Chawand Fort (Prasannagad) - Featured Reviews (730)
The fort is located in Junnar. A short trek, took about 30 mins to reach the top. Fort is densely covered in tall grass. Some water bodies and caves are worth seeing. Another short hike leads to Chavandi devi temple on the fort.
Chawand Fort, also known as Prasannagad Fort, is a historically significant site with impressive architecture, panoramic views, and water management systems. It housed the Chawanda Devi Temple and featured a clever Water Kund for self-sustainability. The fort's rich history and cultural elements make it a must-visit destination.
Best place to visit in monsoon .
Trek for this fort is of 45 minutes & top view of this fort is very scenic. From this fort we can see Hadsar fort which is identical in shape of chawand.
It's a short and easy trek except for one dangerous passage. Fort is blessed with a serene Shiva temple. These heritage sites need more attention from government.
Wonderful experience. Small but decent trek for kid's or Elder people. Approximately 10km from junnar towards Nane ghat. We enjoyed the trek a lot. Surely recommend for Everyone.
Beautiful place to visit. It's small Trek, you can plan other spot also along with this.
Difficulty level is easy, only on patch near to top is little bit difficult but railings are there for support.
You can see Temple, Saptkund, Grain storage place etc on fort.
Very beautiful fort.. trek is easy.
Small 45 minute hike with newly made stairs till halfway and ancient rock cut stairs supported by railings further till the top. Difficulty level medium and endurance level easy. There are many things to see on the fort including, Pushkarni with Shankar mandir, Saptmatrika(Group of 7 interconnected water tanks), ancient rock cut caves, Chavanda Devi Mandir, Sadar, one cannon, and many other things. The caves can easily accomodate around 20 people and it remains dry even during peak monsoon. Beware of monkeys.
