Nice swimming for modern community. But for religious minds, aesthetic. The consecration of baghavathy temple near the shore makes it more divine. Conversely, the temple's existence is inadvertently related. The pond is a great source for daily ablutions for the grama vaasees, the habitat dedicated and surrendered to the chathamkulangara temple, baghavathy. Every year aarattu, the religious ritual bathing, of the baghavathy deity of the temple takes place in a confined corner of this ambalakulam, specifically meant for the purpose only and closed for the public at other times. Some time back, the retaining wall around the pond was done with the panchayat involved. The clearing of silt and mud deposited to the bottom was done at that time. Anyhow, cleaning of the pond periodically is paramountly demanding. All the measures from all the rank and file of the society and public in particular government need for maintenance and sustainability of the water purity.
