This is a restricted forest reserve place, you need permission to enter, there is no marked trail, there's a chance of getting lost, the trek is quite difficult, better to go with a guide, because I was lost midway and ended up on the other side of the mountain.
It's an unexplored place. Good location to view Nandi Hills and sunrise. No parking place, come here with your own security. Need to climb on steps made with stones. Go before sunrise to enjoy the place. These photographs are during and after sunrise view. Next best option if you missed sunrise view from Nandi Hills.
The trail is well marked out, however nearer to the top is quite dense. Quite an easy walk till the top of the first hill. The board says no trespassing forest area but there is noone for miles. Nice views from the upper half of the trail. This is possibly not the right place to start if one is to climb Channagiri as the top gets quite dense.
Loved this place. It's a beautiful trekking place near Nandi hills. Trekking level is easy. Can take trail from two routes. Best time to trek is in mornings. Can spend around 5 hours. One good getaway near Bangalore.
Amazing nature place to spend a week holidays saturday and Sunday .. You may go with care wear shoes compulsory... There present one water falls Morvelous ... U must go early morning in the months in between july to October you may enjoy the blossom of foggy nature I called it heaven of chikkballapur... No shops.. No parking aeria.. Everything is ur own risk. . In rainy season you feels life you are in coorg and main thing it comes under forest department.... In the hills no single man present,, in rainy season very difficult to trekk due to presence of algae on rocks... But unexpected place and water falls
Had a wonderful experience hiking this hill. At the peak of this hill, you can have a splendid view of Nandi hill and Skandagiri. Since it's not known to all, it's less crowded. Parking the vehicle at the base of the hill could be at your own risk. But the locals are friendly. So you could park it in a locals field or in their compound with their permission. It will not be easy hiking without a guide or a local friend as we cannot rely on Google map to guide us to the peak. Pics will explain the rest.
The closest one next to Nandi Hills is the Channagiri Hills or 'Channagiri Betta' as we pronounce it locally in Kannada. Some call it Channagiri, Chennagiri, or even Chandragiri hills - all of them refer to the same elevated peak. The maps all point to the same hills from different start points. The hills are open between 6 am to 5 pm every day and it takes around 2-3 hours for the whole trip. I'd recommend visiting it at dawn between 6-7 in the summers as the trek gets too hot and sticky in the daytime.beaware of Police here .
Wonderful unexplored place between Nandi and skandagiri. Entry may be restricted as per the signboard but there will be a forest guard to check.... who allows after getting some money. Better to start the trek before 6, so that the view can the enjoyed completely. Two points to start the trek. Take enough water and snacks along, but donot pollute the place as it's pollution free as of now. Have a great time
