It's a great place for picnic with Family & Friends. Roads are almost good just some bad patches like 1 or 2%. You should definitely make a visit here.

This place is something else. Upon searching the wiki, it says that the lake was formed during the earthquake of 1897 wherein the forest submerged and thus formed this lake. Who knew that event would create such a stunning natural wonder. The place though lack some basic amenities and has barely any food stalls but if one comes prepared then nothing can beat the experience that it will give you specially in the late hours of the afternoon. A boat ride is a must do activity there.

Perfect picnic spot. Take some snacks and carpets to sit and relax by the lake. They also have a resort with rooms available for stay and you also get to experience Assames traditional food served at the resort. If you trek further you will come across a mini waterfall which is worth going.

One of the best place to visit near Guwahati. A blend of Assam and Meghalaya.... Really scenic and beautiful. The roads are very good now and it's just 1 hour drive from the capital. Eco camps and govt owned lodges are here to welcome you.

Chandubi Lake is also a popular picnic spot. During the annual fair, there is a lot of food & fanfare for the visitors. One can share a happy boat ride in the lake that has some beautiful clusters water lily blooms. Also, there are plenty of bird visitors & it's serene especially on days when there's not too much of crowd. The roads are being repaired as of now & hopefully 2022 would find fine roads leading to the lake.

At a distance of 58 km from Guwahati Railway Station, Chandubi Lake is a natural lake located in Kamrup district of Assam. Situated at the foothills of Garo hills, it is one of the beautiful lakes in Assam and among the best places to experience Guwahati Tourism. Chandubi Lake was formed in 1897 during the devastating earthquake in Assam. According to the locals, Chandubi was a hilly area with five mountains before 1897. The five mountains had sunken into the ground during the earthquake and form the lake. The name Chandubi is derived from two words where Chand means five and Dubi means sinking in Khasi language. The lake is measured to be as deep as 8 metres and the area is around 448 hectare. Best time to visit here is during Chandubi Mela and during New year. If you are camping enthusiast then Visit here from Nov to Feb.

Chandubi Lake is a scenic extension of the Kulasi river. Eco tourism initiatives include a few basic guest houses and home stays. The Chandubi Jungle Camp where we stayed overnight (CJC) is a clean, basic but tastefully done up eco-resort. Access is by row boats, ferried across by friendly villagers. Given the remote location of the CJC, food options are limited. However, the vegetarian local 'thali' rustled up was delicious. Add on delicacies included 'pork cooked in bamboo pots'. (chicken and river fish also available). The CJC has 4 very basic but clean cottages with thatched roofs, mud floors, bamboo furniture and attached basic bathrooms with running water. Ignore the acco, go for the unspoilt tranquility of the Chandubi Lake, ergo avoid visiting on weekends and public holidays!
