This place is a hidden gem. There's probably nothing like it in a 200 km radius. Leon has made sure the place is wonderfully designed. Open courtyard, lawns and great views. The rooms are spacious. Great Indian and Continental food cooked with locally sourced ingredients. No wonder it's tastes heavenly. Experiencing local tribal culture on the walks across nearby farms and villages is a pleasure. Goudaguda is a potters' village and one can watch the entire process and pick up great pieces directly from the potters. There's quiet, peace and starlit skies. There are plenty of books to dive into. Really a great way to get away from bustling cities and experience a different India.
This is the best place to stay in KORAPUT and located an hour's drive from the District HQ and has wonderful roads leading all the way upto Raygada. Leon is one of the best hosts that there is. A wonderful person to talk with for hours about how Korpaut has evolved. The ladies of Chandoori Sai are some of the warmest people I have met. They are genuinely concerned about your stay and will definitely make you feel at home. The food at Chandoori Sai is at another level and can give any good restaurant in metro a run for their money!! The pizzas to the pasta and the stir fry are absolutely out of this world!!
We have been in India many times but staying at the Chandoori Sai Guest House was one of the best and certainly now in our top 3 locations!!! What a great place, beautifully decorated and designed, very comfortable, super atmosphere and the best staff ever (great cooking) We stayed for 3 nights and the owner Leon is a great host and very helpfull in making your stay worthwhile. He knows the area and the local people and can arrange good guides. The Chandoori Sai is highly recommended and I can suggest this place to anybody who wants the best Orissa experience.
This heavenly place is located in the interiors of Odisha and exhudes tranquility, peace and serenity. The hospitality of Leon and the tribal staff at the Chandoori Sai Guest House is heart warming. Indian and Continental food prepared with the locally souced ingredients tastes great!! We loved pizza, apple pie and home grown bread. Thank you Leon and ladies for making our stay memorable.
Stayed at Chandoori Sai for two nights. Everything is in informal setting and feels like at home, but away from hustle and bustle. Leon, our host, has put his heart and sweat in creating this place. His staff are all local tribals who takes care of you as their own. Everything was just good, food, rooms, stay, cleanliness etc. Don't expect lot of sight seeing around. But loved driving through village roads and scenic valleys nearby, which are suggested by Leon. Great place for relaxing, enjoying just being present in the midst of nature in a tribal village.
The place is great if you need a time out, in western kind of atmosphere, and food. The pizza and Italian food is good. I also like the fact we eat at one big table together with the other guests, so it was a group experience. The beautiful garden is a place to read a book, come to rest , after many exciting india experience. The service is great, the staff ask what you want to drink, while you are reading...The washing is done in the morning by the kind staff. Because the location is on the edge of a village, it is nice to walk outside for a while. Also we can recommend to make walkings with guide on small paths in the landscape for some hours. The lesser thing was that we felt the tribal village's where less interesting than at our previus location in Orisha. Also some cost where from my point of view for India very high. The guide, the taxi who collect us from 2.5 hours away we thought a bit pricey Leon is a great host, and I hope he will succeed in future times ! We stayed 7 days. Paul Utrecht NL
If heaven is anything to look forward to, then it must be something like Candoori Sai. From the tiles on the floor to the bread and jam on breakfast, everything is made on site. The service, both by the owners as by the villagers running the place, couldn't be more kind and attentive.
I was thinking about a weekend getaway from Vizag and as this is my first post covid trip, I thought a less crowded place would be ideal. I also wanted to find a place where my kids can roam freely & safely without worrying about the mask. Then I remembered about Chandoori Sai, which is around a couple of hundred kilometres from Vizag in the Koraput district. I know this place has a decent feedback from one of my friends at work. Getting there - By road it is around 5 hours from Vizag and I had no trouble getting there. Except a few sections of bad road due to highway extension. You can rely on Google maps but make sure you have offline maps downloaded as the phone and internet signals are sporadic in some parts. Until here, there isn't much I wrote about Chandoori Sai. I will categorise this into 3 which I care the most. Ambiance - The place has huge open areas that you can roam freely. The resort has greenary everywhere. The lawns are well maintained and without disturbing the natural wilderness around it. The village style houses and rooms add more rustic feel. The rooms are well ventilated, clean and has 24h hot water. First I thought why there isn't a ceiling fan in my room then I realised that I don't need one. The day time temperatures right after Diwali 2021 are around 25degC and night time 15deg - 17degC. Your phone singals will be weak here and there are no TVs or WiFi. Get a book or simply relax/medidate if you are travelling alone or spend time with your loved ones with no distractions. We got a frisbee and a football to keep our kids engaged. My kids loved this place as they got our 100% attention You can also visit the pottery village, a shiva temple close to the resort. But you can't spend more than an hour strolling around the neighborhood. So pick this place based on your purpose. Food - I cannot generalize this part of my review as the choice of food and taste vary from person to person. We are vegetarians and whatever we were served with were in line with our dietary preferences. The food is tasty, fresh and is a blend of various cuisines. From Pizza to Dal, Cheela to Pasta, Noodles to Apple pie, there is a variety. Two things you need to be watchful of - 1) There aren't too many options like a buffet spread that you typically see in restaurants. But we being the A la carte type, what's served for us (a family of 4 with 2 kids) is more than enough. 2) If your taste pallette lean towards spicy and greezy food this may not be the place for you. I didn't explicitly ask for spicy food or barbeque items so I don't know if they can accommodate these type of requests. I can close the food part with a one liner - we loved what we ate during our stay. Hospitality - I ought to talk about Mr. Leon Mahoney and without that my review stands incomplete. Leon is from Australia and in one word this place is his brainchild. From our conversations, I can easily sense that he put his heart in making this place what it is today and in enabling the local Adivasis to render a 5-star level hospitality. Leon is loves the locals and he seamlessly blended into their culture and respects it. He takes special care of his guests and even a 7-year old can sense it. Last but not the least he has this contagious postive vibes that you will be 'Wow'ed for sure. The only thing you need to be mindful of is that there is no card facility available for settling your bills. I didn't ask for online payments like Google pay or netbanking as I had cash but it's better to check beforehand if you're planning a stay.
