Giving it 5 stars despite the chaos because the wedding shopping is by far the best in the country. The prices are unbelievable. It itself is a historic landmark for its location and food. The shopkeepers could be pushy but are respectful of your decisions. Make sure you bargain and don't go with first option you see. The food is amazing. And now the new market is very well organised with new road making it so much more accessible and easy to walk.
Delhi's oldest and busiest market, Chandni Chowk is defined by crowded streets and a thousand shops selling all kinds of stuff - clothes, electronics, books, furnishings foods etc. Famous for marriage' outfits Paratha Galli also a popular point.
It definitely isn't the best time to go in the monsoon season but if you do go you'll have stories to tell! It's an interesting experience of old Delhi. The recent change to prevent cars and only allow scooters and rickshaws gives you the chance to get daring rickshaw rides and nice walking during the good weather. Lots of bridal related shops but also good places to buy traditional Indian shoes. lights, souvenirs, luggage, handicrafts, and so much. It is worth exploring the different galis and shops. Try the good food and check out interesting shops and try your hand at bargaining. Definitely a true Indian experience if in Delhi! I would suggest not going in the summer or monsoon season unless you're prepared to hide from lots of rain and flooding and move during breaks in the rain.
Too crowded. But good for wedding shopping. Can bargain alot. If the shopkeeper says 200rs you start from 80rs. Must try parathas in parathe wali gaali. The jewellery is worth buying. And can try road side chaat and chole bhature. Nearest mrt is chowri bazar.
The bustling wholesale market here is an excellent place to shop, explore, eat and soak up life in New Delhi. There are so many items u can buy exclusively there only. Like I went for some hand made packing paper, paper bags, ribbon, gifting flower, decorative material and so on. But u can buy so many things which you haven't even planned to buy. The place offers an array of choices but demands an early start. However, caution is advised for those with sensitive stomachs, as the local delicacies like aloo kachori and chaat are exceptionally spicy. Additionally, finding a clean washroom can be a challenge. Chandni Chowk encapsulates the essence of Old Delhi, combining affordability with a vibrant shopping experience. While the congestion and spicy street food may pose challenges, the overall visit is rewarding for those seeking a taste of authentic Delhi life.
If you want to go shopping for a wedding then this is the place. Do not go with the salesman who says their store got cheap and better sari's. Their shops are very inside and not safe to go with them. You have to walk a lot and inside they have rikshas to travel from one end to another end.
