Chand Pole / Ganesh Pole is a beautiful entrance access gate to all private palaces of Raja Man Singh. This is main gate to enter the Sheesh Mahal i.e. Diwan-E-Khas & other palaces.
This gate was build for the entrance of the common people in the amer palace. In the top floor of Gate there was "Naubatkhana". Naubat is a type of music. It housed the kettle durums and other musical instruments. For play the instruments it had own specific protocol that had to be strictly followed. When it was played the listeners were hear the music silently.

Forts, as you know, are more often than not located on the hilltops. The hill on which Amber or Amer Fort stands is called Cheelon ka Teela - meaning the hillock on which the eagles live. It was first built by the Meenas who are now classified as tribals way back in 10th CE. However, its fortunes changed when Raja Man Singh took it over and built a formidable fort some time in the early 17th CE. The work was taken forward by Raja Jai Singh who would later set up Jaipur City - one of the current day planned cities of India

Entry gate at the back side of Amer fort. Visitors going by 2-4 wheelers park their vehicle outside the gate and enter from here. Ticket window is just inside the gate. From here you can have a great view of amer town and mountains at the back side of amer. Shila mata mandir is also near the gate.
