Centaur Lake View Hotel - Hotel in Srinagar - Srinagar, India

The Guard at the main gate said the hotel is closed. Some government vehicles were going through though. Rude behaviour.

This is a quite old hotel in the heart of the city right on the banks of Dal Lake. They even have a private ghat. Pros: The hotel is quite big. There are security people outside and the rooms too are spacious. You get to sit on the private ghat. The location is a plus. Cons: since it is quite old, few things too are in old style. The plug points were old styled and at weird locations. The rugs were not that clean. Wifi in the room was not working. The breakfast buffet doesn't have much variety. All in all, okayish experience. It is a bit expensive compared to the services it provide.

Property is old and issues like plumbing, water not going out in bathrooms, flush etc are there. Room size is good. Swimming pool is not cleaned properly. Breakfast is ok.

The view of the property is stunning. This is one of the most prominent hotels in Srinagar. On the other hand, it's an old hotel with old decorations. Almost everything is old and unclean, and I have to mention the restaurant area, it's is also not hygienic.

we stayed in Centaur Hotel on 14th April ,though everyone in the town advised us not to go to that place but still we were went due to its location.i must say it is situated at the best location in Srinagar. though the same cannot be said about the staff there,the housekeeping was pathetic tea bags used previously were not removed and inspite our reminding them they couldn't do it.The most annoying was the breakfast in the morning ,there was litter everywhere and no spread at all and on complaining all they could come up was sorry. i would strongly suggest please review your decision of staying at this property My stay at Government property has seriously made me think why staff at government owned property does not want to work??

This Hotel is not near Dal Lake....It is on Dal Lake. Whichever room you get, it will have some view of Dal Lake. Very large hotel and decor is from 80's (not saying this negatively but those who like antique rooms will love this place). The facilities are good but are not up with times. The best part of the hotel is that you can walk up to Dal Lake at any time you want. They have a private viewing deck of Dal Lake and it is one of the most serene views. Staff are very friendly and helpful and pay close attention to detail. The food was good as well. Hotel has one of the best lobbies I have seen. (see pictures I have uploaded). They have a heater in the room for your comfort (They have an AC as well!!!! not sure who will use an AC in Srinagar climate. They should have spent that money in buying better and more comfortable matresses.). There is a swimming pool but it isnt in use. Overall, my experience was very good and the views and private lawns were the cherry on top. Credit Card acceptance can be an issue and it is recommended to carry cash.

Excellent location in city centre along amazing views of Dal Lake with background of Mountains that can be enjoyed right from hotel and room. Food was good and service was prompt. Breakfast (complimentary) was ala carte due very few guests staying in the Hotel However it is an old time 5 star hotel which has been degraded due lack of maintenance. Rooms give a feel that you are in a hotel which is 20 years old however the bedsheets were clean and service was prompt including house keeping, room service and doctor assistance( which was required during the stay). Also they have a handloom showroom in basement which is decently priced and with decent collection. Better options are available in market but at elevated prices

A place which could have been heavenly but for hotel corporation of India. The rooms are almost inhabitable with an overall sense of decay all over. Needs immediate privatization. This could become the most prized property in the valley. Sad to see wastage of such a prime location
