The place always have bad smell of fish waste., But itz OK.. . . Apart from fish, there are meat (chicken, beef, mutton), vegetable shops, provision stores, spices & dry fruits, carpet and plastic materials, etc.available near by.,

Bought a Kg of king fish and one pomfret. You can get it Cleaned for some extra penny. I can see a lot of freezer fish containers section where you also get fresh fish of any variety but you need to but it in bulk. Fish was okay. Besides the market, there is a line of shops who sells dried fishes and prawns. You will get it for a cheaper price.

Some sellers are good! And many try to cheat and clear old stock to unaware customers. Some rules to survive any fish market in India. 1. Always check Freshness and Quality ON YOUR OWN. If they dont allow, dont buy from that seller. Walk away. - check fish's eyes - should be clear and bright - not foggy/grey. - fish body should should be firm and not mushy to touch. - inside gills should be red in color. If Brownish /Greyish its all old stock. - should not smell bad when you touch it. Only old fish stinks/ smells bad on touching. - it should be kept cold -in ice/freezer if you are buying from markets other than in harbour & straight from fishermen. 2. Check out all sellers before buying. Dont buy from the first shop that you see. 3. ALWAYS BARGAIN. There is No Fixed Price concept. What you decide is what you pay (be reasonable) . 4. BE ATTENTIVE while he puts your items in your bag. Sometimes what you select might not be the item which he puts into the bag. Many fraud sellers will try to change the items for old stock when you look away. Be careful for that. If he does it, immediately tell him to change, otherwise walk off. 5. Carry Physical CASH and in CHANGE also. Most sellers wont agree to UPI and Epayments. 6. It will be muddy/ slushy / stinky. DONT WEAR fancy clothes or any thing expensive. It will mostly get spoilt. Also they will charge you as if you are a foreigner. 7. Carry Your Own Extra Packets/ Bags to keep items. Nowadays many sellers charge extra. 8. DO NOT PICKUP SERIOUS FIGHT with anyone. Remember you are in their territory. Most of them are short tempered and they have sharp cutting knives & equipments. It will end badly if you continue. Also they will get together and easily outnumber you.

Mostly crowded at morning time and evening. Atmosphere smells awfull fresh edible fishes are available at low cost. Meat is also available near by.

The worst market in the globe. Expensive in all it means , dirty like a bus station toilet. I hope one day the authorities will open their eyes .

Varieties of fishes available at affordable price comparing with other locations. The only negative point is hygiene. It's really pathetic.
