Had shawaya from many places and this was the worst Over spicy masala loaded shawaya They can ask the customer to choose the masala one and normal But they don't do that. Many so called food bloggers overhyped this place They add different type of sides including mayonnaise which tastes vinegar You can't eat shawaya without water What are you guys serving a bunch of spicy masala which is not at all good for stomach The so called food bloggers get paid and they present misleading reels or vlogs Horrible experience will not visit back here

I recently dined at Calicut Cafeteria on 21/3352 Gujarati St, Kuttichira, Kozhikode, Kerala, and overall, it was a pleasant experience. The service was commendable; the staff was attentive and courteous throughout the meal. I ordered the Shawaya, and it was a delightful culinary experience. The flavors were rich, and the dish was prepared to perfection. It's definitely a must-try item on their menu. However, one downside I noticed was the lack of parking space, which can be quite inconvenient, especially in a bustling area like Kuttichira. In summary, Calicut Cafeteria offers excellent service and serves delicious Shawaya, but do keep in mind the parking challenges if you plan to visit.

Visited Calicut Cafeteria and opted for their Masala Shawaya. The dish had promise with its aromatic spices and presentation, yet the experience fell short due to the excessive saltiness of the masala topping. While the flavors were rich and inviting initially, the overwhelming saltiness dominated the entire dish, leaving a disappointing taste. It's crucial for the restaurant to maintain a balance in seasoning to enhance the overall dining experience. Hoping for a better-balanced flavor profile in the future to truly savor this otherwise potentially delightful dish.

The best SHAWAYA in Calicut Shawaya is a authentic dish of arabian cuisine. The shawaya is not a fried item. It cooks in its own chicken fat by heating it on a spinning machine with skin. Its masala depends upon our perspective...Some people want over masala dipped ,tendered chicken but others like dry less masala chicken, In this shop they provide Masala shawaya, which is tangy and not much spicy and it is served with several dips and sides ( with a peice of our kozhikkodan halwa). Even the kubboos ( white bread) also spread that masala. So if you want to try some arabian cusines definitely visit here and try masala shawaya. Welcome to Calicut, the mystery world of foods

I had the pleasure of savoring the delicious Shawaya at this restaurant. The shawaya itself was a treat for the taste buds, with its authentic flavors and mouthwatering aroma. Despite the remarkable taste, it's important to note that the long waiting time and lack of parking space somewhat dampened the overall experience. If the restaurant could address these logistical challenges, it would undoubtedly become a go-to destination for those seeking outstanding shawaya.

Had to wait for half an hour to get into the place. The only dish they serve is shawaya with kubboose. The chicken was well cooked with juices coming out of it. They serve it along with the masala which comes out after preperation. I personally didn't like the taste much. Seating capacity is limited, which in turn increases the waiting time. They serve different sauces with the chicken which was good. They serve it initially in a washed plate with water remaining which felt untidy to me. Instead they could have served it after keeping the plates in table individually.

I am writing after first time visiting the cafeteria. As everyone saying I didn't feel as the best shawaya available in Kozhikode, I think it's completely dependable on Personal choice of taste . We feels the masala taste like more sour and salt taste . So both my friends feel avarage not a top class shawaya.masala feels diffrent and I suggest to try out this shawaya. I don't whether it's because I taste it for first time . Parking is not available

Never expect much more the Shawaya is average only, also i felt the areas and sitting arrangement are congested, there is no fan in right side sitting area.
