Cafe Fiction - Cafe in Gangtok - East District, India

The place truly justifies the name- cafe fiction. It is straight out of pages that describes a small cafe with some awesome collection of books. This place in gangtok will give you some romance in a dull day. However, I have never heard of a faded day in Gangtok. Thier ground floor has cafe where you can order and dine, with a dash of rustic vibe. On the first floor is a bookshop, where you can also sit and work. What I enjoyed the most here is the backyard of cafe. there is a narrow water fall and they have arranged a few furniture for people to work, chill, and chat. Isn't it a dream to work amid the sound of waterfall and chirping bird ? The owner was generous enough to share the wi-fi password and recommend some books. I didn't find much food option from the menu, may be it was not my day. Also, it was easy to locate. Had there be more tables in the backyard, would have been nicer.

The breakfasts here were amazing! The bacon and eggs were so flavorful. I don't like bacon or sausage but unlike the crispy, crunchy flavorless bacon in America this was juicy, flavorful and chewy. The sausage was dense, flavorful and not fatty. The sunny side eggs were delicious with toast. The strawberry milkshakes and coffee were the best in any of the four Gangtok cafes we tried. The momo's were unique and delicious. The ambience is like a European cafe with a slide through door for the entrees. We enjoyed the books as we ate and loved the selection of English hardcover books for my grandchildren. Book prices are cheaper than the US. The lady in the bookshop was chatty and engaging. In a class of its own. Not a big dessert selection so come for the food and drinks.

Food and ambience were great. There's a bookstore upstairs (hence the name) and you can spend some time there while they make the food. It's a bit out of the way from m g marg but worth the walk if you are willing to make it.

It's a beautiful cafe where you can spend your day reading books outdoor and indoor both. Cafe has limited food options but whatever they make is absolutely authentic! This conceptual cafe will make you come again and again if you love spending time in quaint places.

Best place on earth if you love books, good conversations about books and some nice coffee and snack! Has a bookstore upstairs so you know it's a win

Their home roasted coffee and pancakes are good. This place has lot of books of all kind, check pics... Awesome place to spend time in peace.

Even though I liked the ambience at first, I was way too put off by how I was treated there. Atfirst, I checked out the books there and wanted to buy some, the owner, Mr Raman Shrestha (or the bookowner whoever he is) had an objection each time I checked out my phone to check on some books. Coming from a family of avid book-lovers, Naturally I wanted to show the catalogue of the books to my siblings for them to buy, to which I was rebuked very rudely and was told that if I was to use the phone, I would have to go out, and then this man had the audacity to let off all his frustations by letting me out. 0/5 stars, unfortunately, Google reviews don't have negative stars. Behaviour do set or break the mood. If you're planning to visit this place, go to a bookstore and buy books instead, atleast you won't be humiliated.
