As children, we grow up with stories of butterfly and the metamorphosis of a caterpillar. However, not much attention is paid to the habitat and behavior of the butterfly and variety of its species. The butterfly park will thus generate awareness and compassion for these creatures. It will also be an important place for the conservation of this quickly depleting species. Insects have been the target of human disrespect. They have evoked emotions of fear and disgust. However, they are crucial part of the ecosystem. This park will fulfil its role as an educative park and will endeavour to change the mind set of the visitors. If we talk about the name of Kankaria lake, then no one knows why it was named Kankaria, but many stories are formed by local people, One of the stories says that the name Kankaria was chosen due to the huge piles of limestone that was dug out during its excavation for the formation of the beautiful artificial lake. The second story said Sultan Qutb-ud-din put a question to Shah Alam, who was a saint, to choose a blank ground for the pond and the garden, who then scattered the pebbles and created the beautiful lake, from which the Kankaria lake was named. Architecture of Kankaria Lake Kankaria Lake is spread over 76 acres, its depth is 6 meters. The catchment area of the lake is 640,000 m (6,900,000 sq ft). Interesting facts about Kankaria Lake Kankaria Lake is a multilateral lake. It is basically an artificial lake with thirty four sides. After entering through the gate, at a distance of about 100 meters from the gate on the left you will find the ticket counter for the train ride. A lakefront is developed around it, which houses many public attractions like zoo, toy train, kids city, tethered balloon ride, water rides, water park, food stall and entertainment facilities. It is the largest lake in Ahmedabad, which provides a pleasing view from the buildings and the streets. Kankaria Carnival is a week long festival held here in the last week of December. Many come for picnic here and at least some of them feel happy at the recollection that once Emperor Jahangir and his queen Nur Jahan spent many an evening here. The lake, created in 1451, by Sultan Qutab-ud-Din, is a polygon with 34 sides. There is an island in the middle. Kankaria Lake is one of the largest lakes in Ahmedabad. It is one of the main entertainment centers for the locals who like to go there to enjoy the attractions arranged on its banks. These include parks, an aquarium, a zoo, a natural science museum and a nautical club. In the center of the lake, a peninsula is made up of a garden and a summer palace of the Sultans named Nagina Wadi, which served as a base for bathing in the waters of the lake. If you are looking for activities for children, visit the zoo. The latter was built in 1951 and has 450 different mammals, more than 2,000 birds and 140 reptiles can be a good choice. One can see rare species such as Bengal tigers, anacondas and elephants. Kankaria Lake is famous for leisure, nature and kids activities.

I went here on 23rd June with my family, this park is equipped with different type of beautiful flowers and one can see various butterflies which make this park a worthy place to spend time.

I must say that it was an amazing experience. The park is well-maintained and has a beautiful collection of butterflies. The park is spread across a large area and has plenty of benches where you can sit and relax while enjoying the beauty of nature. The park also has colorful flower beds that add to its charm. The staff at the park are very friendly and knowledgeable. They are always ready to help visitors and answer any questions they may have. The park also has a small shop where you can buy souvenirs and other items. Overall, I would rate the Butterfly Park in Ahmedabad 4 stars out of 5. It's a great place to visit with family and friends, especially if you're looking for a peaceful and relaxing environment.

Excellent place for Butterfly Enthusiasts... It's great that such a park is created right in the middle of a city. It's well maintained. I spotted about 11 species of butterflies.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting a butterfly park, and it was a truly enchanting experience. The park was a haven of natural beauty and biodiversity, with lush gardens filled with colorful flowers. The park contain fountains its impressive. But no butterfly i hade seen there.

The view of flagrant butterflies on colourful flowers is magnificent You can see hundred of animals there,, starting from tiger,,bear,, lion elephant and many others.. The birds house is the most amazing place.. There are also a variety of trees .. Good for knowledge purpose.. We went there in our college project Good place for zoology students

This is a botanical garden at Kankaria Lake. It claims to have many butterflies of various species but there are hardly any butterflies here. Hats off to their efforts to make this place an attraction for butterflies but unfortunately very few butterflies are seen. It is open from 9 am to 6:15 pm.
