Treatment wise no doubt good, availability of doctors at night is also good. Cleanliness is worst, felt like I am in hell. General beds are shared between two patients. As this is a govt medical college hospital, treatments are free of cost. When the Toilets inside building for patients were cleaned nobody knows. Even paid toilet outside was not cleaned properly.

Today's Burdwan Medical College was established as 'Burdwan University Medical College' by the University of Burdwan in 1969. It was a humble beginning in a hollow brick building (Primary school). Foundation was laid down by the then Honourable Health Minister Late Nani Bhattacharyaa. Later it was taken over by the Government of West Bengal on 4 August 1976, and renamed as Burdwan Medical College. But the College remained as the sole Medical College under the academic jurisdiction of Burdwan University until it was taken up by the West Bengal University of Health Sciences in 2003. First batch of medical students comprising of 50 students, though joined in 1969, had been shifted to different Medical Colleges of Kolkata due to inadequacy of infrastructure of running MBBS course. The development process was geared up to fulfill the requirements of the medical education. The next batch of students joined in 1970 and remained at Burdwan to complete their MBBS from this brand new Medical Institution of West Bengal. However, it took eight long years for the first batch to complete their MBBS degree from the College. So, the official first batch came out as doctors only in 1978! Their MBBS degree was granted by the MCI was included as recognized Medical qualification. Interestingly, in the later years many of these batches of students sprouted out as great clinicians or academicians and gradually became stalwarts in their fields. The political unrest in the parts of West Bengal that time was not healthy for the growth and development of the newborn Medical College that time. The students fumed up on protests several times due to the neglects on their studies. Subsequently, due to enormous agitation on the part of the students, West Bengal Government took over the Medical College from the University of Burdwan on 4th August, 1976. Since then, there was no looking back. The College grew up steadily in to an academic hub and in 2000, the annual intake of MBBS students were increased to 100. Since 2013, Medical Council of India has permitted the College for intake of 150 MBBS students annually. Presently, other than medical graduates, the Institution is the knowledge hub for nearly 100 post graduates including super-specialties per batch.

Inadequate Communication: The doctors failed to communicate essential information about the patient's condition and treatment plan effectively. We were left in the dark regarding the progress and prognosis, leading to heightened anxiety and confusion. 3. Medication Errors: On multiple occasions, there were errors in administering medications, which raised serious concerns about patient safety. Secondly, the behavior of some of the doctors and medical staff was marked by a troubling degree of arrogance and insensitivity: 1. Dismissive Attitude: Several doctors displayed a dismissive attitude towards our questions and concerns, making us feel insignificant and unheard. 2. Lack of Empathy: Instead of providing emotional support to a family in distress, some doctors exhibited a complete lack of empathy and compassion. 3. Unprofessional Conduct: We encountered instances where doctors made derogatory remarks about [Patient's Name]'s condition, causing emotional distress to the patient and the family. It is disheartening to witness such behavior in a government hospital, which is meant to provide accessible and quality healthcare to all citizens. We believe that every patient deserves to be treated with respect, dignity, and utmost professionalism. I kindly request that you launch a thorough investigation into these matters and take appropriate actions against the doctors and staff members involved. Furthermore, I urge you to implement measures to improve the overall quality of care and communication within your hospital to prevent such incidents from recurring. Considering infrastructure,health staff ratio to huge patient load from a large catchment area wide spreading over entire burdwan district,Birbhum,Murshidabad,Malda,Hooghly,Nadia District n even from Jharkhand state it's a pretty good state govt run medical college.Alma Mater

Burdwan Medical Hospital needs qualified doctors for critical cases, adequate training and supervision of medical students, and appropriate referral systems for patients needing specialized treatment. These measures will not only enhance the hospital's reputation but also provide patients with quality healthcare services. The hospital should prioritize these areas to ensure that it delivers high-quality care to patients.

Pary you have not to go there. Though there are a range of facilities but you need to have patience to access them.
