A very calm and beautiful place in the heart of Joypur Forest. The road to come here is not good (kind of off-roading) but after reaching and finding the main Runway everything changes as it's in very good condition. Definitely recommend to visit. The Forest is very beautiful though
I had visited this place while visiting Joypur. This was an runaway built by British during WW2. Nothing special but I would suggest to take a round trip from Joypur to this place and then go to Bishnupur, you can ride through the forest, it's good.
This is a runway of the 2nd world war time . There was a massive usage of this runway during that time . Now it's a tourist place for people coming to Bishnupur for their Holidays. It's especially very famous among the bikers and moto vlogger. They can drive smoothly in this approx 5km long run way. It is a very good place to visit surrounded by sal forest .
Great Piardoba was originally designed for Consolidated B-24 Liberator use. In 1943 it was designated as a Boeing B-29 Superfortress base for the planned deployment of the United States Army Air Forces XX Bomber Command to India. Advance Army Air Forces echelons arrived in India in December 1943 to organize the upgrading of the airfield and thousands of Indians labored to upgrade the facility for Superfortress operations. It was one of four B-29 bases established by the Americans in India.
Admist the forest of Joypur lies the untold history during the British rule in India. A destroyed, abandoned airport where the British kept their fighter jet planes used during wars. A runway once used just like any other airports nowadays. The government should ensure to preserve this history but are left abandoned to get destroyed. This runway was built in that time period and still exits. People come to visit this place and click pictures.
I love visiting historical places. This place is on the outskirts of the Bishnupur Town. Nothing much to see here, except an old concrete runway hidden under the bushes. Whole area is a jungle and not safe after sun goes down.
A destroyed airport in the middle of the joypur forest , this airport was made and used by British.. after this airport has not been used..now you can long runway and side by side so many trees.. must visit to know the history.. and download the map when you enter the forest .. internet connection is very low in middle of the forest ..
Historical place. Surrounded by long woods. But approaching road is in very bad condition.
