Brihadeeswara Temple - Hindu temple in Thanjavur - Thanjavur, India

This temple is an amazing example of accomplishments of powerful dynasties ruling this region & symbolizes the prowess of Indian civilization. Being able to build such monuments more than 1000 years back is an astounding feat and most of the temple remains intact - at-least in terms of the main structure. It's an architectural marvel with a grand entrance, intricate carvings and large open spaces around the main temple. Temple premises are well maintained and despite some extra weekend crowd, we were able to enjoy the grandeur and beauty of the temple.

The temple itself was impressive. It was huge and it's very famous among tourists. There were a lot of interesting things like wall paintings, Tamil inscriptions made in the wall, the architecture and everything was insane.

As you enter this majestic temple, you will be mesmerised by the enormity and grandeur of this architecture. It makes you wonder the kind of skills and expertise that we possessed centuries ago. It also makes you wonder how can our rich heritage be so neglected in the modern world. It also makes you wonder how can a structure that is tilt be called as one of the wonders of the world and this magnificent architecture unknown to the world.

Magnificent! Was captivated by the exquisite paintings and magnificent architectural work. The temple's grandeur prompted profound reflections on history, a testament to the awe-inspiring legacy of the Chola dynasty.

Such a big and beautiful temple. It's a UNESCO World Heritage site. They say it's 1000 year old temple. They say that No earthquake had shaken this temple. Good place for photography. There are also cloak rooms to deposit chappals , luggages. They took 20 rupees for one luggage. I suggest people to visit temple in mornings or evenings. They say that 85 tons of rounded structure rests on that gopura.

This is a beautiful example of architecture and loved this divine place a lot. Choose a good time in the evenings as soon as the temple opens like 4:30pm or so or go early in the morning to witness the fantastic view. After 10am the floor will get very hot depending on the day so choose a good time to visit. Temple is nothing less than extraordinary and will recommend every one to pay a visit if you are in the area or make time for it. Loved the huge gopuram and Lord Shiva's magic divine idol.

An architecture marvel built 1000 years back and the big tower is single Stone which Weighs hundreds of tonnes . No one knows still how it was transported and how it was erected 1000 years back . A TRUE engineering marvel . It's a worth every bit to visit.

Majestic example of Chola temple architecture. Everything about this place is a statement of royal grandeur. Thanks to the large-scale restoration work done, the temple still holds the viewer spellbound. During the evening, the lights placed at specific points illuminate the complex beautifully. No surprise then that this place attracts a lot of tourists. One can easily spend a couple of hours here.
