NTPC's core business is generation and sale of electricity to state-owned power distribution companies and State Electricity Boards in India. The company also undertake consultancy and turnkey project contracts that involve engineering, project management, construction management and operation and management of power plants.

Bongaigaon Thermal power plant is owned by NTPC and it is situated at Salakati ,District- Kolrajhar Assam. 3X250 MW Steam Turbine with turbo generator is running now. Third unit is commissioned recently in January 2019.

Kokrajhar Thermal Power Station is one of the biggest plant situated at Salakati, Kokrajhar, Assam. Its surrounding is very beautiful and have nice environment to work.

Since it is located in kokrajhar district and it is not far from kokrajhar . So its name should be changed to Kokrajhar thermal power plant not bongaigoan
