Boku Ramen - Restaurant in Puducherry - Pondicherry, India

It is a small place the side of a coat room in a house. Having said that, the small size packs a punch. Had visited this place during dinner service and as luck would have is, all three 2 seater tables were full. Upon ordering our ramen we have a walk 1,500 septs to get a table. On an average one bowl costed us Rs.520 for which one gets a Kungfu Panda size bowl of Ramen. Our brown of ramen had spicy and smoky flavoured broth with slices of chicken, ginger, nori, 6 min boiled egg- not exactly and scallions. Few suggestions for this place.. 1. I know that is a social place, but if a customer has finished their food and still seated occupying a place. Seems rude on the customers part, as other people are waiting for a table. 2. If possible, some use of an anti mosquito spray will help, it felt like a blood donation camp for mosquitoes.

They took 45 minutes to seat us and when we finally got our food, we got 3 bowls, miso,shouyo, and paitan. Portion size was good but the taste was nothing special it was pretty okay, I preferred the miso one. It It was quite a small place and there weren't enough tables

Cute hole-in-the-wall boutique joint serving mouth-watering Ramen! Dropped by for dinner one evening. Ordered the vegan Ramen and was blown away by the miso broth. Reminded me of an old Japanese joint I used to frequent in NY. Menu options are limited but a lot of care goes into each item. As for the vegan Ramen itself, the broth is on point with an earthy subtle flavor that's so signature shiro miso. Noodles are cooked to perfection. Although, the toppings could've used more generosity. They felt limited! Service is quite fast and the owner is extremely courteous and polite. I spoke to the owner for almost an hour and we had an amazing conversation. Seating is on the footpath and its just delightful sitting outside at the corner of the street in the evening! A must visit place if you're in Pondi!

This place was such a let down especially when it comes to food and service. I absolutely do not recommend this place. We seated ourselves and when we asked for the menu we had to get it from another table. After sitting down you have to stand up again in order to order because the servers are not moving from behind the counter. Same thing once the food was prepared, we had to get it from the counter. It seemed more like self-service than a restaurant. We also had to pay before finishing sitting down after having ordered. When it comes to food, the taste is far from ramen, like really far. I don't know where the glowing reviews come from. We had 1 kombucha, turns out it's not a bottle but a small single glass of kombucha. For 60Rs that's very steep. We ended up paying just under 800Rs for two and a glass of kombucha. It was raining a lot, and our table got soaked as did my leg. Do you think they cared one bit about their customers? No. I didn't even get a tissue. I had to sit on the side nearest to counter, and then one server got out (really surprised as to why, since they never got out for us) and I had to move to sit in the rain again to let them pass. There was a complete disregard toward the customer.

Ordered Vegan Paitan Ramen It was really delicious for me it was not that spicy had a lots of mixed flavours of panfried brinjal, mushroom, tofu; raw onions, spring onions, red radish; deep fried onions and the noodles were quite good not over cooked or under cooked just right. Really enjoyed and satisfied with this ramen. The portion was enough for me. Accepts online (UPI) Payments. For all vegetarians and vegan people out there. A must try outlet while visiting Pondy!! Just go for it!!!

We went there today for dinner and came out with full and satisfied stomach. We ordered miso rarem and shoyu ramen, both were excellent. If you like eggs then do add eggs as they are marinated. The portion is also great. Best part is the broth, so so yummy, I preferred the shoyu broth more than the miso one.

While the food at this place is decent, the service is unfortunately sub-par. The two women who were in charge for the night were very slow and more focused on chit-chatting among themselves rather than on the waiting customers. The highlight of the pathetic service was when the server lied to me that the apple juice was done but then moments later served the same to some friend of hers off the street. The owner of the place should really pay more attention to how the shop is being run. All in all a decent product but problematic service. Edit - Appreciate the reach out by the owners and in having the issue addressed. Would definitely visit again!

I recently revisited this cafe, and I must say, my visit this time was good. The food was perfect, and I was impressed by how they ensured the vegan and vegetarian options were distinct and well- prepared. The owner was present during my visit and personally approached me, asking for an opportunity to make amends for my previous encounter. Speaking of which, during my previous visit, I had an unfortunate incident where a shrimp was mistakenly included in my vegan ramen. As a devoted vegetarian, this was disheartening and went against my dietary preferences. However, I would like to acknowledge the owner's response this time. They sincerely took immediate action to rectify the situation. Their attention and concern truly made a difference in how I perceive their commitment to customer satisfaction. I believe it is important to give credit where it's due. While my initial experience was disappointing, the owner's personal involvement and dedication to ensuring a positive dining experience have won me over. It demonstrates that they value their customers and take their dietary preferences seriously. I would encourage fellow vegetarians and vegans to consider giving this place another chance, as they have shown a genuine commitment to improvement.
