Still waiting for operational . Work has been going on for many years. Bokaro district administration never bothered about work progress. They don't even think about public facilities. All cities are being connected with the airport but the bokaro is still waiting.

Bokaro Airport is a domestic airport owned by the Steel Authority of India Limited and operated by the Airport Authority of India. The airport is located in Sector 12, approximately 4.1 km from the city centre.
**The construction and planning of an airport in India has been an ongoing process for over 30 years, and its completion date remains uncertain, even to the point where it seems like divine intervention is needed to determine when it will finally become operational.** Bokaro economy has reached that level such that it should must get at least few flights, which will further boost industrialization in this city which has really came at halt with respect to what it should be. Still we are waiting for commercial flights to Start pure example of loose governance from State to Central including local lack of will power. **Pathetic** Anyway even if Airport will be operational it will be for small seater aircraft anyway of no use.
While many two-tier cities have established airports, Bokaro is still without one. Despite the launch of the UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik) initiative by the government to connect two-tier cities by air, the city is still waiting for this much-needed infrastructure. It is unfortunate that although the city already has a mini air service, it has not been able to scale up for passenger air service. Despite assurances from top leaders, the passenger service has yet to commence. We hope that the authorities will take action soon and enable the city to have a passenger airport.
