Recently, I visited the Bodhgaya temple in Gaya city. I traveled from Tatanagar to Gaya and finally reached Bodhgaya to visit the Mahabodhi temple, where Gautama Buddha attained enlightenment. It was a remarkable experience. I had the opportunity to see the Buddhist tree under which he sat and meditated. The serenity of the place was captivating, offering a perfect setting for finding inner peace. During my visit, I dedicated an hour to meditation, immersing myself in the tranquil ambiance. I was not alone in my pursuit of mental serenity; I encountered numerous tourists from diverse backgrounds, including the Philippines, Thailand, China, and Japan, all drawn to this place to meditate and explore their respective cultures. One of the highlights was the 80-feet Buddha statue located nearby, which added to the spiritual aura of the surroundings. Overall, my experience was truly fulfilling, and I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. It provided me with an opportunity to disconnect from the chaos of daily life and connect with my inner self. Bodhgaya temple is a must-visit destination for anyone seeking mental peace, cultural enrichment, and spiritual growth.
The Bodhi Tree also called the Mahabodhi Tree is a large sacred fig tree is in Bodh Gaya. Siddhartha Gautama who known as the Buddha have attained enlightenment under this tree. The Bodhi Tree is recognizable by its heart-shaped leaves. The original tree under which Siddhartha Gautama sat is no longer living. The term "bodhi tree" is applied to existing sacred fig trees. An existing tree is the Mahabodhi Tree growing at the Mahabodhi Temple, is often cited as a direct descendant of the original tree. This tree, planted around 250 BCE.
One of the best World Heritage site of World... Very safe and Peaceful place. LOVE THIS PLACE. All electronic items are prohibited so peaceful environment found here.
It was lovely to see this tree derived from the ancient tree under which the Buddha gained enlightenment. There were Buddhist monks chanting in large groups under the tree. It felt quite a moving experience. The calm atmosphere here gives you inner peace and rejuvenates one's mind. The tree you need to see if you are in Bodhgaya. Siddhartha Gautama, aka Shakyamuni Buddha, attained realization under an earlier growth of this tree more than 2500 years ago. A worldwide pilgrimage site. Well maintained, well protected. A must-see.
What a beautiful place it is ! I loved it Security is at it's highest You will feel very High positiveness under main dome of temple. . Bodhi tree is secured by fencing yet you can sit under it's wide spreaded branches. ( Try to find a fallen leaf of tree) . You can witness meditating monks (Vipassana practice) . Tibbati people are usuayseen roaming around. . Huge and wide spaces to sit and calm. . You can easily spend 4 to 5 peacefyhours here. . No mobile phones are allowed so ypu will be more present at this place. . Highly recommended.
It is such a pure and serene place. It takes off all the clutters of the mind and this place offers you peace. One should visit this place often in one's lifetime. The area is maintained so well, and the child monks are so simple at heart and full of purity. Two-three of them came up to me and gave me the Bodhi tree leaves, told me stories about the place (unlike the guides who were trying to make money). This place is a must visit.
This is definitely one of the best and most peaceful places in this world. As soon as you enter Bodh Gaya you will feel the energy from all the temples, shrines and mosques here. I spent 3 days in this wonderful place. It was awesome!

My favourite place in Bihar next to Rajgir. Immense peace is prevalent here. Budhha got enlightenment here. One must visit this during lifetime. I like Budhha because he was atheist and opposed idolatry and theism.
Buddhist Monks in the Bodhgaya area participate in the "Patrikhamokkha" every full moon day at this place. This monastery is near to the Mahabodhi Mahavihara.
Beautiful and well maintained place. The entire Bodh Gaya is dedicated to Buddha and the area is peaceful and all temples are nearby each other. This one in specific is well maintained and beautifully decorated.
Can anyone please share the Monastery's contact details? I cannot find the correct number and email address, everything I had previously is not working. I think they might have changed their number/email/website. Thanks
