Boatman's cafe - Restaurant in Edava, Varkala - Thiruvananthapuram, India

It's so common that most of the places in Kerala will be closed early in the night and Places in Varkala is not an exception. It was around 9pm when we were searching for any happening places to have our dinner in the varkala cliff but we couldn't find 'happening spot' but we found Boatman cafe with some active crowd by that time and also the menu had decent amount of varieties with average cost in tourist spots. It's a worth place to dine in with the beach view

Personally my favorite restaurant / cafe in varkala cliff. Located in black beach, a bit away from the main helipad and crowded area.Boatman's undoubtedly has the best view of the cliff. Kind of resembles cafes in Cangu and Semniyak in Bali. Staffs and owners were very friendly. Specially waiter Amit Singh. Food was good and price was reasonable. Way cheaper and tastier than many of those crowded cafes in the cliff including coffee temple. Not sure why this place doesn't have good ratings on google. The view from the restaurant during sunset is beyond wow. Just make sure that you are in a relaxed mood and not in a hurry when you visit this place. This is not a fast food joint. So they take sometime to prepare the food. Do check it out when you are in Varkala

Very nice and friendly staff. Good food and pretty fast service. Good prices. Local food and sea food awesome! Could be one of the best places in Varkala. Cold b**r.

Fantastic restaurant with great views, good quality food and friendly service (and good wifi!) I would highly recommend it! We came here several times while in Varkala.

Everything perfect. The food is delicious, the views are unbeatable and the staff of the friendliest I found in India. Totally recommended.

I keep visiting varkala and the shacks here. Boatmans cafe is right at the beginning of the cliff facing the sea. The view is great and there is ample amount of seating space. Recently I had ordered pasta(arabitta) along with ginger lime juice. The food was quite basic(the pasta was a bit oily), I liked the ginger lime juice. overall the food was ok and the service was decent. This place isnt too harah on the pockets. I would perhaps like to try more food here and then change my rating about this place.

Pathetic food, horrendous service. Avoid at all costs. Took them 50 mins to make a pasta and pizza. Prawns were as bad, so was the rice. Not worth a visit.

Horrifying experience in terms of quality of food, service. Do not go to this restaurant, way better options available in terms of ambiance and food on the cliff
