If you have a lot of money to spare and you don't mind spending it on below par quality products for the sake of aesthetics, this is the place for you. This is a tourist specific shop, avoid if you want authentic handicraft of Bengal. Literally everything they offer, from jamdani saree to dokra jewellery to santinikatoni leather bags and other accessories, to various art pieces can be found in Gariahat for much less price and much higher quality and variety.
A unique collection of premium handloom products. 15 minutes here was more effective than hours or days or travelling across Kolkata. Naturally you are paying for the time saved. While here - don't forget to stop by at the sweets corner and grab a bite (or a bagful) of exquisite delicacies!
I just went a few days to back to shop for Durga Puja , here was a male staff wearing blue shirt who was very gracefully attending a very decorated female customer. I was in my casual homely outfit nothing expensive, but this might have made him feel that I can't afford the sarees here hence when I asked about the material of 1 of their sarees, he simply ignored but gave a ridiculous expression at me. Claps !!!
It is an open air market, you will enjoy if you have time to spare. It is not as costly as other Malls of the city, and at the same time it does not have costly, airconditioned food courts etc.
