This forms a part of the Teak Museum in Nilambur. Full of greenery, fountains and several species of flowering and non-flowering plants. Small pools with water lilies and lotuses also serve to make this place a visual delight. Lovely place to visit and spend half an hour.
Teak Museum, Nilambur Operated by the Kerala Forest Research Institute, the Teak Museum at Nilambur is the first of its kind in the world. A two storied building, the museum provides extensive and scientific information on teak. The ground floor is exclusively dedicated to research on Kannimara Teak, which is the oldest of its kind in the world. The museum is located near the teak plantation and is an ideal place to see the teak plantation activities undertaken 160 years ago. Some interesting exhibits here include traditional granary and a miniature model of a sailing vessel called Uru, made of teak wood. Visitors can observe various methods of seed-grading, pre-sowing treatment, preparation of teak stumps, vegetative propagation of teak and the different stages in the complete rotation cycle of teak from seed to mature tree. A visit to teak museum will be a different yet valuable experience.
