Binsar zero point - Featured Reviews (657)
A beautiful place to visit. This is very different from other view points in North India because there are no maggi or other food points here, very less crowd comes to this place as you have to drive through a forest are for around 12 km and then you have to hike for 1.5 km to get here and the roads condition is very poor for most of the strech. But the views are majestic, totally worth the thrilling drive.
Around 12 kms from entry checkpoint, 10 kms by vehicle, last 2 kms treck.. Gives awesome view of the greater Himalayas peaks of kumaun Himalayas including Nanda Devi, trishul etc
The ticket counter is at the Binsar wildlife sanctuary gate.
Ideal time to reach that gate is 3 am or 4 am.
Post buying your tickets it's a 10 km steep and tough drive uphill, which takes 30-45 minutes atleast till TRH (Tourist Rest House of KMVN)
This drive is AWESOME if u like to drive on a mountain.
Though it's dangerous, however if u drive carefully it's a beautiful drive through nature.
When u reach TRH, park ur car, then mountain climbing to zero point is needed which is 2 km upwards.
It's tiring but it's a nature walk, which i wil never forget...it's so beautiful, mesmerizing, scary (bcos u travel/walk alone midst the jungle pathway) yet nostalgic.
When u r tired enough then u come across the two floor open zero point structure.
The sight from zero point is from where u can actually see the Himalayas.
U can sit and meditate there as the energy there is very spiritual.
Carry some water with you when u walking up the zero point trail.
It's amazing place to see the Himalayas. I had a very close view of the panchachuli Himalayas mountains. I visited this place earlier morning. The view of the Himalayas mountains is stunning and amazing
The views of the Himalayas are breath taking and the small trek of 2 odd kilometers is worth it. The incline is not too steep and even if you are moderately fit, you can do it. The views from zero point are worth it. If this was a western country, by now they would have advertised it widely.
Note: some of the photos I have taken are through a high power binoculars.
Exciting tour through dense forest.... A two km track to zero point by walk. Enjoyed but with a guide charged Rs 600/- for 6 Hrs.
To reach this point which is situated at the highest point inside the Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary, one has to use a combination of drive up the hills and a 2 km trek inside the sanctuary. After purchasing entry tickets for your vehicle and the travellers at the entry gate, one has to drive deep down inside the sanctuary to the car parking area.
From this point, we need to walk through a forest trail through dense forest, slightly uphill for 2 km to reach the elevated view point. The trek is indeed wonderful as you come across different types of trees and birds. At various points of the trek one gets views of the majestic Himalayas. The awe inspiring views and the refreshing cool air take away all your tiredness and inspire you to walk more. Finally, one reaches the raised viewing platform and the views from the top take your breath away!
We were fortunate that we got a clear view of the majestic peaks of Nanda Devi, Trisul, Panchchuli, Chaukhamba and other mountains. Recommend that one reaches the view point before 12.00 hrs as the mists rise around the mountains and clouds can block their views.
Also recommended are good walking shoes and suitable clothes.
We are a senior citizen couple who love to walk and we had a breathtaking experience which we will cherish for ever!
It was a not so difficult a trek from Binsar sanctuary area to this viewpoint of the Himalayas. There is no food, water or toilet facilities at the viewpoint, so go prepared. PLEASE don't litter the place and ruin the spot.
