Bhujio Fort Gate - Fortress in Bhuj - Kachchh, India

We decided to visit this place after our breakfast because it is best to visit during sunrise or at sunset. The fort is not maintained well. We couldn't get on top of the hill as the stairs/path is broken down. We tried both sides couldn't succeed. We had to come back since there's no one to guide or help. Overall a nice place to go with a group of friends.

It is a very old fort. Fort gate, fort area and wall's are totally demolished type. But you can climb on hill and see the entire city from one point.there are many photography point also. A temple is also on hill. Please Carry your water, cold drinks and eatables from city, because there is no shops on the hill and fort. Best time for visit is evening time and sunset time.

Good to place to get your workout done. It's a must visit place if residing in Bhuj or Kutch. Mesmerizing sunrise and sunset scenes can be seen here also quite a good view of fog in winters. Must take safety measures while trekking.

Best Small Trek and Hike

The Bhujia fort is on the outskirts of Bhuj town and is partially in ruins. One has to pass two major gates to enter the fort. There are some scattered buildings with an irregular area. Parapet wall is on the top, which is weak and damaged. The temple on top of the fort is well lit during the night and can be seen from miles away. I had visited the fort in the evening and waited till night fall for witnessing the full moon. One can get stunning views of the Bhuj town, especially by night.

Best place to visit in sunrise or sunset time. Stairs are bit risky for oldage group. You got some temple of Jain also on the peak of it. You can get best view of Bhuj from it. Loved being there. Spend 4/5 hours only at this place and captured full sunset time.

The great indian wall . The venerable Bhujia Fort is located outside present-day Bhuj city, sitting on top of the Bhujia Hill. Bhujia takes its name after Bhujang or snake. It was believed the people worshipped the Snake God who provided protection. Rao Godji I started construction of the fort in 1715 and it was completed sometime between 1718 and 1741. The Diwan of Kutch, Divakaran Sheth extended the fortifications to strengthen defences of the capital and with good reason. The fort was under attack by invaders from Sindh and the Mughals. There is an interesting story about how the Naga Sadhus opened the gates of the fort to visit the Naga temple and then fought against the army of Sher Buland Khan. The Naga Bawas always received due respect since then. The earthquake of 2001 resulted in extensive damage to the fort but it is still worth a visit.
