Bhowmik's Bungalow - Home Stay in Tezpur - Sonitpur, India

Homely, safe and secure atmosphere. Perfect for family and kids.. beautifully maintained and nice blend of antique property with modern amenities.

What we liked: The property was clean, beautiful, and well maintained. The staff was attentive, well trained and well behaved. The local restaurant recommendation. What we disliked: The host, though very cordial, was intrusive and kept knocking on the door multiple times a day at short intervals under some pretext or the other for minor issues, which was very annoying. We felt our privacy was violated even further when either the owner or his staff entered our room without permission while we were not present. This was not for room cleaning purposes, but to keep our bill and clothes which we had requested to be ironed on the table - something which could have been done once we returned. We had lots of jewelry and cash with us and our personal belongings were lying around. We felt very uncomfortable as our personal space was violated without our permission during our stay. We were charged Rs50/- for three items of clothing we gave for ironing. One of the garments was still crumpled even after that.The host also tried to help us with our local sightseeing. The e-rickshaw guy he provided was not good, and we did not have a pleasant experience. We let him off at midday and decided to explore the place by ourselves. Even the planning for Nameri national park the following day was botched up. I regret not making my own arrangements and relying on the owner for local guidance. The host also insisted on helping us with transport to drop us off at the bus stop, although we were not keen on it due to prior experience with his e-rickshaw guy. Eventually, the man shows up and charges Rs100/- which otherwise costs just half. The hosts graciously agreed to provide us with home-cooked dinner on 2 of the 3 nights we stayed. While, the quality and taste was good, our mistake was not enquiring the price beforehand. We were charged a whopping Rs450/- per plate for a meal of rice, dal, veggies, and some chicken. The price was more than double of what one can get in an upscale restaurant in Tezpur, with a far greater variety on the plate. Overall: the property was very nice and so was the location. But the experience on the whole did not leave us happy. Will definitely not visit again or recommend. Felt like we were seen by the host and his contacts as walking wads of cash to be taken advantage of. Left with a sour taste in the mouth. host's intrusiveness

An oasis in the old part of Tezpur, nicely kept house and garden. My room was on the small side, and he seems to have some room adjacent to the garden, but not for the price I paid. I had to leave early the next day and owner was flexible to prepare breakfast at that time. Already booked another stay there.

TV should be available in the room . Overall great food and location .

it is a amazing place at the heart of the town. Very neat and clean room with bathroom. And beautiful campus with beautiful flower garden. I highly recommend this place to everyone who want to visit Tezpur. It fells like staying at own home. As I travel with baby she enjoyed the festival Diwali with the family. They behaviour of the family is very good.

The room i booked from Agoda was completely unsatisfactory, in the site it said a deluxe room with window view, instead i got a 12ft x 12ft room, with window view of someone's house, where i couldn't open my window neither the drapes, so whosoever goes there keep these things in mind: 1) it is not a hotel, it's someone's house the converted into a home stay sort of, so there always the chattering of the kitchen and the staff which is audible. 2) none of the sites gives the room picture for the room provided for the price or tariff, so in the images it shows the house of Mr.Bhoumik as a whole. 3) privacy is a concern there, since there was construction noises in the morning. So if any one of you okay with that you are welcome to stay, positive things about the place is the location, not hard to find, initially i had trouble finding it, Google maps doesn't give the exact location, but if you ask around you'll find it, and the second thing is the owner is a good man. But after all it's a business i pay for a service with expectations in my mind, the total i paid around 2500 bucks for a small room, i wouldn't have mind without AC too but the room should have been bigger, the bed took the maximum space, hardly room left to walk.

The homestay located at Tejpur town is moderate to stay for a couple of days stay. The entrance lawn is beautifully decorated with flowers and varities species of orchid. The rooms are just comfortable but has no cable TV connection, no internet connection. Also meals are not always available. The property is run by Mr Bhaumik & his wife with only four rooms available at present.

Great place to stay. Recommend it. The owners are very hospitable. It's a 120+ year old home, which is very nicely maintained with all the amenities (power, water etc). Beautiful Gazebo and outdoor sitting areas to enjoy your meals.
