Bhorer Alo (Gajaldoba Tourist Hub) - Resort hotel in Junglee Mohal - Jalpaiguri, India

This property is operated by West Bengal Tourism Department under West Bengal Govt. Anyone can reach here by share vehicle or by personal car. It is 25 km away from NJP station and more or less same from Siliguri junction. No doubt the resort is attractive. The gardens inside it the lake and obviously the environment of the resort is good. Any one will like it. Obviously I liked it. What I didn't like is the location. There are nothing interesting outside the resort. Yes there is a view of sunrise and sunset but why should any one come here to enjoy the sunset and sunrise. Also there is option for boating but I think it is not so special. So as per my point of view, if any one come to enjoy the resort with his family or friend it's quite good option but please don't expect any thing once you are out from the resort.

If you do angling then snakehead fish you can get there. Do fishing, chill with your family and friends; no doubt its nice place, my only 1 star for this place is fish thali (for dinner) which i ordered was not as good as i have expected.

Beautiful property. Lovely environment. Great place for people who are interested in a calm and close to nature holiday.

A nice place to retreat. Booked a lakeside view room for a short weekend. Newly constructed government property , clean and peaceful. Food quality might need some improvement. Staffs were diligent and prompt. All in all a nice experience, should visit!

Beautiful property to spend two days. This place is very near from Bagdogra Airport or NJP.

I had heard about Gajoldoba from my acquaintances in Siliguri and not much from people coming from outside. Hence I set up an expectation in my mind that it's going to be more like a picnic spot for locals or a weekend relaxation place, especially because I was visiting during the monsoons and migratory birds (one of the main attraction of Gajoldoba) can't be found. But so glad that I was absolutely wrong! What a pleasure to walk beside River Teesta flowing in full throttle, walk on the dam releasing water in full force, sooth your eyes with the lush green in the lake area and ride the local boats for a 'full round' while it drizzles. 3km i.e. 40 min boat ride for 200rs per head was quite a deal for a solo traveller like me. 'Half round' doesn't get to experience the real fun of Gajoldoba as one can't explore the narrow waterways there. Heard that wild elephants visited the lake last week and they have scattered some of the veins and grasses. Spotted many ducks, swans, kingfishers, little cormorants and also one breed of migratory bird (name unknown but very discreet sound). The Boroli fish fry and semi gravy crab from the riverside sacks were mind-blowing. But the real highlight of the Gajoldoba trip is yet to come. I stayed at the Government Tourist Lodge 'Bhorer Aalo' and once again, without much expectations. I had to work at Siliguri during Friday and Saturday morning, hence Gajoldoba was no more than a stopover. But again I was wrong - what beauty and comfort Bhorer Aalo was! Starting from the arrival, the stuffs made me feel special, drove me to the lakeside cottages (they are farthest from the reception -550 meters) and right beside the lake, gave a small tour of the room and around, provided with stuff numbers without even having asked for - just as it should be. The night lighting arrangement at Bhorer Aalo is something special, loved it. Snacked with Tomato soup; Dined with Boroli semi-gravy with potato and eggplant, Veg Pulao and Garlic Chicken. The boroli was really special. The morning was the highlight of the stay. Drawing curtains from the huge glass door that opens to the balcony facing the lake was the perfect thing to watch the sunrise. Went for the morning walk inside the property and it's so huge that doing few rounds is more than what I do in my daily routine. Toto awaited in front og the room again as I checked out early. Quickly gulped the complimentary breakfast and left for Siliguri. Another busy work day but Gajoldoba kept me fresh throughout.

Had a really pleasant stay. Rooms are well decorared, comfy and full of features. Staffs are very well behaved. Also there is a free toto service inside the complex which is very convenient.

Completed a project on Gajoldoba during my post-graduation, so always wanted to visit this place. So, last December booked a room during my north Bengal trip, and it was a very big cottage, with a good view of Teesta barrage, the food and the quality were also good. the whole place or complex area is interesting if you want to have some quiet time, leaving the hustle of daily life's hectic schedule. it's a good choice for 3 day stay.
