If you love mountains and lake, then Bhimtal is the place to be. It is less crowded, more peaceful and awesome place for some peace and quiet. You can walk by the lake, do boating, visit decades old temple and they have island cafe right in the middle of the lake.
This lake has a stunning view, with some hotels atop the hills. I'm sure they'll be very expensive, but I think it would be worth it, given how amazing it looks from down here. Accessibility to the lake is also quite comfortable, but during peak days it is a hassle to get there due to heavy traffic.
Good escape from your daily routine. Enjoy and relax, do boating, visit aquarium. Negotiate boating rates during off peak season. Near Gorkhal temple . Parking can be a challenge during peak season. Local shops are nearby so enjoy Maggi after boating

The room was a bit small ( super deluxe ?) , but overall ambience was good. FOOD WAS EXCELLENT. Service & attendents were cordial . In my opinion one should take their suite. They are commendable experience. Next time, I will use one.......
