The journey after collection of permit was smooth. After a mini ghat section ,the moment you have the first glimpse of the engineering marvel, you really feel proud. You need not be an engineer to appreciate the construction. Just stand and admire. You are not supposed to click any images , for security reasons but visitors hardly obey that , which is sad. Overall , this is a milestone of INDIAN History which every Indian should visit and admire Best to visit bhakra Village where we can boating and also feels like Hills Beach.

This dam is a very good place for children to roam. This is the biggest dam of India. Many people needed laborers to build this dam. The best part is this. There is a train coming to this dam in which no fare is charged. Due to being the biggest dam of India, the security here is very security arrangement. This is a big thing near the dam in which voting takes place. Here is a very good place for children to visit and for older people. There are many restaurants near the lake. That ji takes out fresh fish from us and that fish looks very good to eat. Do try it once. There are many greenery trees around the lake and there is a very nice environment which is good for good health by staying here every single night and there is Baba Balak Nath and Naina Devi temple to visit here. Permission is made before coming on time to come to Bhakra Dam.

Bhakra Nangal Dam is a concrete gravity dam on the Satluj River in Bhakra Village near Bilaspur in Bilaspur district, Himachal Pradesh in northern India. The dam forms the Gobind Sagar reservoir. The dam is located at a gorge near the (now submerged) upstream Bhakra village in Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh and is of height 226 m.[1] The length of the dam (measured from the road above it) is 518.25 m and the width is 9.1 m. Its reservoir known as "Gobind Sagar" stores up to 9.34 billion cubic metres of water. The 90 km long reservoir created by the Bhakra Dam is spread over an area of 168.35 km2. In terms of storage of water, it is the third largest reservoir in India, the first being Indira Sagar dam in Madhya Pradesh with capacity of 12.22 billion cubic meters and the second being Nagarjunasagar Dam in Telangana. Described as "New Temple of Resurgent India" by Jawaharlal Nehru,[2] the first prime minister of India, the dam attracts tourists from all over India. Bhakra dam is 15 km from Nangal town, Punjab and 106 km from Bilaspur Nangal Dam is another dam in Punjab downstream of Bhakra Dam. However, sometimes both the dams together are called Bhakra-Nangal Dam though they are two separate dams.

As a symbol of India's progress and resilience, the Bhakra Dam is a source of pride for the nation. Its impact on the economy, environment, and local communities is immeasurable. Bhakra Dam is situated across the Satluj River, Bhakra Village (upstream) in Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh. Its reservoir is known as 'Gobind Sagar' which stores up to 9.34 billion cubic meters of water. Jawaharlal Nehru honourably called it as the "New Temple of Resurgent India." It takes around 2.5 hours to travel from Bilaspur to Bhakra Nangal Dam. Also, Nangal Bus stand is 20 km from Bhakra. Bus services are quite prominent, and roads are well connected to the dam. Private boating is available in bhakra village and people can visit Bhakra museum but it requires permit.
