Bhagwan Valmiki Mandir - Hindu temple in New Delhi - New Delhi, India

Visited here on the way to Birla Temple. It's a nice temple, but water cooler was not working properly. Also the people there was ok ok in behaviour. This temple is related to valmiki community, so they behave a bit hard with others.

It's Temple of Maharishi Valmiki ji. Who wrote the Ramayan. It's very beautiful. And there is no restrictions for any Caste and religion.

Valmiki Mandir is a Dalit community Temple, not a Hindu temple. Mahatma Gandhi and Khan Abdul Gaffar khan stayed here. Gandhi stayed here and taught children for an year. The room where he stated is preserved as it is. Gandhi wanted to feel the discrimination faced by the Dalit community which faced untouchability from upper caste Hindus. There used to be a settlement earlier around the temple but when new Delhi was expanding the land was acquired people shifted away but the temple stands. I had taken two French journalists there as they were doing a story on 150 years of Gandhi.

Beautiful mandir of Dalit Hindu community. Must visit place for EVERY Hindu living or coming to delhi. Peaceful and very spiritual place!

This is the place, where Gandhi ji stayed between 1st April 1946 to 10th June 1947. During the evening hours he used to teach the children of adjoining Valmiki basti.

This is holy place and historic temple of Valmiki community. When visit this place you will feel positive energy.
