It is nice and beautiful. There is huge real estate improvements lacking in the city. It will be more improvement. Government and people are called SMART City.
It's very nice and beautiful place. But the major problem with weather... It's always cool. In monsoon season horrible. Educational and health hub for North West Karnataka state. Second assembly of karnataka is located here. Kannada and Marati both cultures, foods available. One of the smart developing city.
Need more improvements. Lot of roads has to be make improvements. Belgaum main Bus stand is still in construction mode. This is in the list of smart City. But in this city the smart City projects are not going as expected. People are struggling very much in the monsoon season here.
Very disorganized, everywhere urinating men, driver, conductor, passengers, no proper urinals for women....pay and use also charge for urinal use for women..... Very disgusting bus stand.
Know by government and public as smart city.but there is soo much improvement needed to the city. THERE IS HUGE real estate improvements lacking in the city. The city doesn't really look like smart city.
A very beautiful place with many other facilities. It's a great place to Rome, stay and also to spend some vacations over with your family ..... Hope ypu will enjoy here. Have a good day...
Belgaum (or Belagavi) is a city in the southwest Indian state of Karnataka. Circled by a moat, the large Belgaum Fort contains centuries-old mosques and the Kamal Basti, a Jain temple. In the city center, the domed, 1950s Mahadev Temple sits in a park. The ancient Kapileshwara Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Northwest is the pink-stone St. Mary's Church, with carved Gothic arches and a teak-and-marble altar. Belagavi ( earlier known as "Venugrama" or the "Bamboo Village") is one of the oldest, strong, prominent and well cultured historical place nestling high in the Western Ghats. The old town area with cotton and silk weavers stands gloriously besides the modern, bustling, tree-lined British Cantonment. *History*-- Belgaum was founded in late 12th century AD by the Ratta dynasty, who shifted from nearby Saundatti. A Ratta official named Bichiraja built Kamal Basadi, a Jain temple, dedicated to Neminatha in 1204, which came to be called Kamalabasti. Pillars found inside Belgaum fort have Kannada inscriptions in Nagari scripts, one from 1199 by Ratta King Kartaveerya IV. The city original name was Venugrama, a Sanskrit word which means "village of bamboo". Alternatively, it is referred to as Venupura in early Indian texts, which means "city of bamboo". Belgaum became a part of the Yadava dynasty kingdom (Sevunas) in early 13th century. An inscription from 1261 of King Krishna belonging to the Yadava dynasty attests to this. The region was invaded by Khalji dynasty of Delhi Sultanate in 14th century. Shortly thereafter, the Vijayanagara Empire was founded, and Belgaum came under the rule of Vijayanagara. In 1474, the Bahmani Sultanate conquered Belgaum with an army led by Mahamood Gawan.[12]
I had been to belgaum to visit Vtu. Frankly speaking not much of the people here know about Vtu. Some of them speak hindi. The Belagavi bus stand is muddy. No tar road inside the bus stand. The auto drivers here are very corrupt. I asked one of the auto drivers to drop me to Vtu he first tried to fool me saying it costs 500 and place is over 20km. But i already had a google map so i knew it. No auto driver here accepts fare according to the meter. Very lazy drivers. They keep waiting for any travellers to fall for their timid trap!
