Bekaltal - Hiking area in Gerur - Chamoli, India

Once in a life experience is Mountain Trekking in winters. Fully covered with snow. This was our first Campaign stop during the Bramhatal Trek which started from the village Lohajung. The lake was half frozen but not covered entire with snow. Unluckily during our trek the temperature was not so down. But yes if you are lucky you may find the entire lake frozen. The entire place just looks like Hollywood movie location. The time I saw it I felt like the shooting of Twilight all huge trees and lush greenery & The Revenant with freezing cold temperature with snow everywhere.

It's a holy lake. Camping along the lake is not allowed. Nearer you have Dhaba where you can eat.

The place is fantastic. Its was already occupied by different groups by the time we reached top. Its always better to go with a group, unless you are prepared with your own tents and to cook your own food.

First stop or camping site on brahmatal trek. Its a 4-6 hours hike from lohajung. The camping site is slightly away from bekaltal hence the lake is clean and beautiful.

One of the scenic views you get while ascending Brahmatal..The lake is frozen in winters while from Feb end muddy water is visible out here...This place has got some history which you get to here from trek leaders thought each leader tells a different story btw..All in all a peaceful place to rest and have some chit chat with your trekking group.

It's small lake enroute hike to the Brahmtal from lohajung, it remains frozen in winter which is pleasure to your eyes. Usually most trekking companies set up their camps some 200 meter away from this lake which keeps it in its natural form. A must visit lake to have lust for while it's time of sunset & last Rays of sun falling on it.

2nd day of our trek.due to bad weather we just went there for the day nad not any further. If you are going to bramhatal,the first tal (lake) you come across is bekaltal. If you are visiting this in March april or oct- nov let me tell you you are missing something. You are missing the mesmerizing view of the snowy white thick layer.the entire frozen lake.. Please visit bramhtal during dec- jan and enjoy the trek!

Bekaltal is beautiful place and its lake called as bekaltal lake is even more beautiful and it has its own historic importance. They say u can drink this water without getting sick. Its so pure and clean. But they also say its very deep that no one has been able to measure it in so many years. Recommended place to visit.
