It is one of the most beautiful and well known places in the district of Kokrajhar. It is situated within the Chakrashila Wildlife Sanctuary which boast Golden Langur, the only Wild Life Sanctuary in Assam to be inhabited by golden-coloured monkey. Besides, varieties of big or small wild animals live in Chakrashila Wildlife Sanctuary. People from every corner of BTAD and as well from Assam and other states visit Baokhungri on Sankranti, the day on the eve of Baisakh(Bwisagu), to enjoy trekking and climbing the hill amidst aura of festivity. The annual festival celebrated there is widely known in every corner of Assam. Along with traditional cultural show, traditional food items are sold there. People can enjoy every kinds of Bodo food items in the Baokhungri festival. On its south side, the Deeplai Lake lies with her serene beauty. On the top of the hill, people offer prayers to God at the holy altar for blessings. People can reach Baokhungri Hill easily by any vehicles from Kokrajhar Town.
We have visited the beautiful, natural, historical hill station at Harinaguri village, Dist- Kokarjhar on the famous occasion of the 7th Baukhungri Festival 2019. The Hill station at South Site of Kokrajhar. Height of the hill is 1491 feet from sea level. Many Trible people are living here.
Must visit place during the annual festival time. Every year mid in the month of April the local government conducts a mega festival which includes cultural, sports and other events. People from across the area and other states even foreigners also participate in different events where handsome price money is associated. A fabulous destination especially for food lovers, one can taste different variety of locally brewed wines. The locals used to conducted this annual festival for worship by climbing the hills where the old temple is situated from very old times.
