Basanta Cabin - Fast food restaurant in Kolkata - Kolkata, India

Basanta Cabin is situated at junction of Calcutta medical college, College square, Calcutta University. It was established in 1931. Nearest metro station - Esplanade and Railway station - Sealdah. We ordered combo veg fried rice - chili paneer combo (rs. 150) and chowmin - chilli chicken (rs. 160) combo. Tatse was fantastic . Behaviour of the staffs was also very good. Some features - 1) wheelchair accessible entrance (ramp) not available 2) seperate washbasin available (can't comment whether washroom is available or not) 3) UPI payment available

What I dislike at Basanta Cabin is that although the place is renounced, the maintenance is very poor. Online payment method is still not installed at this place even in late 2023. The food quality is average to good. The pricing is cheap which is definitely give it a plus.

On of the oldest restaurant in college street area. Old days sitting arrangements are available in here. Cooking and serving quality is not so good, but it has a heritage of almost 100 years.

Food quality is not good and it's not as good as expected . I ordered mutton kosha and the mutton is not well cooked, it's like it is fish curry just mutton is added to this curry. Also I ordered fried rice and the quantity is not enough.

But the shown aforementioned two dishes are the ones to try out, with some soft drinks if you may. The interiors are just about okay, a basin with soap to wash hands, and benches and tables for shared seating. Food lives up to its name in taste, and is quite reasonably priced. Service is satisfactory, and cash payment only - no electronic transfer. For residents of and visitors to Kolkata, this is worth a try, even if it's for once.

An ideal place to have good food and do some chitchat with the essence of Vintage Stuff. Now coming to the Location this is situated just opposite the Hedua park and right a few walks away from the Scottish Church College. You can avail the bus if you directly want to hop here. Do come here to taste the dishes on the weekends or whenever you want too!

I had chicken with oyster sauce and chicken fried rice. Food is tasty. It is a very old and famous restaurant. Still they are maintaining that environment. Paying in cash is the only option.
