Barur Lake - Nature preserve in Barur - default, India

Parur Lake is a lake in Bochampalli Circle, Kritinagiri District, Tamil Nadu.[1] This lake is the largest lake of Kritinagiri district. It is spread over an area of 600 acres. The water reaching this lake through a canal from the Kritinagiri dam built across the Tenpennai river is brought through a canal from the Nedungal barrage.[2] The lake holds 249 million cubic feet of water. A total of 2397.67 acres of land is irrigated through the eastern main canal of the lake, 1583.75 acres of land and 813.67 acres of land through the western main canal. Through this, the areas in Barur Panchayat, Arasampatti Panchayat, Bendaraalli Panchayat, Keekuppam Panchayat, Kottapatti Panchayat, Jingalkathirampatti Panchayat and Dadhampatti Panchayat are getting irrigation facility.[3] Water from this lake goes to Bambaru Reservoir through connecting canals via Pochampally Lake, Mathur Lake, Penukondapuram Lake.

Wow!! Lovely lake. Barur lake is the second largest lake in Tamil Nadu. One side is the huge lake and the other side is agricultural land with ever greens... Awesome mind relaxing place! Good for evening walk. Fresh fishes are available every morning here in this lake. Fried Fish Tastes good!! One best experience I got when I visited here from the city life!! One important thing is that maximum part of this lake will be drained out during hot summer season! During this season, upon seeing the dry land, we cannot even think how lake is formed here!! But in the very next rain, the dry land refills and get back to its cool lake form.

Barur tank is the second biggest lake in Tamilnadu after veeranam lake. Located in midddle of dharmapuri and krishnagiri districts Fresh fish available at all times Location is awesome must visit
