Bapir Hotel - Bengali restaurant in Mal Bazar - Jalpaiguri, India

The non veg thali at this seemingly humble eatery consisted of rice, daal, alu bhaja, shak, and boroli machher chochori... We added on mutton kosha and chicken kosha. All items on the menu tasted excellent, like authentic home cooked Bengali food. Mutton kosha was outstanding, had just nice blend of spices not too hot and spicy but super delicious with yummy tender pieces of lean mutton.

The food quality was much good ..But the price comparison to others is much costlier .. Hospitality and Environment inside that place was average ..

Nice place, their charges were reasonable. Although a long cue of customers were waiting, but still they were proficient enough to serve their customers as quick as possible. All of them were much friendly. All types of Bengali cuisine foods were served there. An authentic destination for Bengali food explorer. Nice experience was quite costly above the line

We had just one lunch so can't give a statistical average. However based on today's one-off experience I would rate it 10 star on food quality. Appearance and ambience is pretty mediocre, may be cheap but it was an unforgettable lunch. We had rice, daal, saag with kasundi (mustard paste), a fry of fine cut veg with small anchovy kind of fish, ilish maach in mustard gravy and mango chutney. It's difficult to tell which one was better but ilish we ate was better than many best varieties I have had so far. Owner Biswajit Pal or Bapi told that it was from our neighbour Bangladesh (border around 88 km). We paid Rs 500 for each piece of ilish which is a very steep price for a place like this, where tea plantation is the only industry. But you will not regret. You don't get this quality where I live. if you are passing thru this area make sure to call up Bapi and fix your menu. Dont go by the appearance of the shop.

I halted for lunch break on19th June . The guy won't initially let you know the rates. He will confuse you by giving non veg options and again not show you the price which otherwise are available for all to be seen on the reception counter. When you ask him clear about each thing he will still confuse you. Beware of him when he is ordering food for you. You should ask him the rates in clear before ordering and then only order. I would recommend that one should not have a meal in this restaurant unless he knows him.

Excellent food quality with quick service , taste is so authentic and they never compromises with the quality .

No doubt about food it's very good in quality specially BOROLI MACHER JHAL. parking space is small. Restaurant is old fashioned no so much spacious ,service is ok ok. But all the negetives are swept away by the taste for which a person goes to a restaurant. Must try Their chicken mutton and local fish
