A little known historical place in Hooghly adjacent to Bandel Church where a Garh (settlement) used to be during the period of Hussein Shah. The township's name is a Portuguese derivative from Ugolim and Bon del. Bonomasjid had been rediscovered in the early twentieth century from a forest zone (Bon), generating the name. Used to be a placid, semi village till the 1980s. Now it is a sprawling mohalla of Hooghly Chinsurah Municipality that somehow retained its molecular past here and there in an unkempt fashion.
I personally call this place "Cold Zone", because, whenever I pass by this, I feel the temperature suddenly drops, and as soon I am over crossing, the temperature comes back to normal. Else, its a good place.
My home is near the Masjid....... Every year there is a large fair around the masjid all people come to the Masjid that day..... no comparison of cast
A mosque situated here. A mela called bunomasjider mela is being organised every year in the summer time on 8 th day of month of baisakh.
This is an ancient place and has an awesome atmosphere and ambience to reside in .
