It's simply majestic! Trust me the photos don't do justice to this place. You need to be there to experience it. I am not sure if I was just lucky to be there at there at a right time, but my personal experience was great. "Picturesque", "breathtaking", these words just came to my mouth as they felt to be made for the scenes I saw. The dam in itself is grand and is topped with the Banasura peak watching over it. It was raining when I was there and the clouds surrounding the hill ranges made it wallpaper worthy. The boating experience is also amazing.
Perfect spot to chill, go in the morning or evening. They are activities' available in the dam. crowed places. pay and park is available. They are vehicle service which will drop you near the dam from ticket counter. i would say prefer walking, its not too much. #must_visit
This place is huge and so very beautiful. The pictures don't do justice to how breathtaking it actually is in real life. You will need to walk a lot to reach the top of the dam so make sure to wear comfortable shoes and you can carry so snacks with you as well!
This is an amazing place to wind down in Wayanad. We were lucky to visit this place when the crowd was very less. We almost had the entire park to ourselves. The view of Banasura Peak is mesmerizing with the clouds kissing the hills. The Same also has a solar panel over the walkway and also a floating solar array on the water. The view is great with small islands in between the water.
At first I thought that there was nothing much to see after I entered. But when we got to know that there was a mini bus to reach the dam area, we thought of going as it was for just Rs. 25. Trust me that was the best experience. They have speed boat and ferry ride options and you must give it a try. Speed boat is charged Rs. 1000 per boat and 5 members can go at a time. You pass through a lot of mini islands and they will ride for around 15 mins that too almost till the other end of the dam. Such a lovely experience. They even have a play area for children and also adults, horror house e.t.c.
It's a great place to visit with your family and friends. One of the most beautiful and calm place to visit. Entrance ticket is available easily near entrance. It's a Asia's second largest dam and they have stairs to climb and also a walking pathway. If you are not able to walk they also have a vehicle service to take you to the top. Boating available having slow and speed boat option. Enjoy the view and admire the beauty around. Parking place is available. Long weekends crowd will be more.
Banasura Sagar Dam, wow what a beauty It is a tributary of the Kabini River. The dam has a height of 38.5 metres (126 ft) and length of 685 metres (2,247 ft). In the dam's reservoir there is a set of islands that were formed when the reservoir submerged the surrounding areas. The islands with the Banasura hills are in the background view. It is the largest earth dam in India and the second largest of its kind in Asia. The dam is made up of massive stacks of stones and boulders. Best Time to visit dam at evening. There is ample space for parking and entry fee will be there. Many activities and adventures rides, boating etc starting from Rs 200 to Rs 2000 available..... one can enjoy full day if they have time or else we can fix this spot during evening. From entry point, we have to walk and climb the stairs about 1.5 km ( Vehicle available Tempo Traveller by the Govt. but waiting time will be more during weekends and crowded days ) better to walk it's just a 15 - 20 min max.... Then we will see the beauty of dam and it's background surrounded by huge hills and backwaters. Speed & pedal boats are available & are major hits with tourists. Speed boat ride, in particular, is an exhilarating experience & not to be missed. During weekends it very hard to get the tickets for boating , so plan accordingly.. Finally it is a must visit place during Wayand Tour... 5 star rating for this beautiful place....
If you are a fan of seeing nature then I would definitely recommend. It is seriously beautiful. But it's not for those who are uninterested in admiring views and unwilling to walk up only for 10 minutes (although there is a van you can pay for, it is usually crowded.)
