Best option available for lunch if you are in Bolpur. It's 10km away from Bolpur. There is a huge rush in weekend at lunch time. One have to book the a day early or early morning of same day. Food are very tasty here specially pabda curry. They have also Patisapta and Rosmalai which is also very tasty. They have also a store beside the dinning hall where you can purchase different types of rice, Aachar, Jam, squash, Bori etc. Their service is also satisfactory.
Nestled in the heart of a natural oasis, this quaint eatery holds a special place that transcends the limitations of minimal amenities. What it lacks in luxuries, it more than compensates for with a Bengali home-cooked meal that not only tantalizes the taste buds but also leaves a lingering desire for more. This culinary gem, at its core, captures the essence of simplicity while delivering a burst of flavors that resonate deeply with the soul. As you step into this charming abode, the aromatic symphony of spices envelops you, setting the stage for an intimate dining experience. The heart and soul of this place undoubtedly lie in its kitchen, where every dish is crafted with love and a mastery of traditional Bengali recipes. The sheer deliciousness of each bite has an almost magical quality, melting your heart and creating a longing to revisit, like a cherished culinary memory. Adding to the enchantment is the earthy setting that unfolds around you. Like a watercolor painting coming to life, this place awakens your senses with water lilies gracefully adorning a serene pond, and ducks leisurely waddling by. The aroma of home-made ghee being churned in the background wafts through the air, a fragrant reminder of the authenticity ingrained in every dish. Moreover, the very architecture of the space contributes to its unique allure. Rooms made of dry tubes of jute create a warm and rustic ambiance, enhancing the overall experience of dining in an environment that feels both cozy and authentic. It's a setting where every element, from the traditional recipes to the charming surroundings, harmonizes to transport patrons to a world that celebrates the simplicity and richness of life. While the ambiance and gastronomic delights steal the spotlight, the practical aspects of the place contribute to its allure. Easy parking and a moderate seating arrangement create an atmosphere of accessibility, making it a welcoming spot for both regulars and first-time visitors. It's a testament to the fact that sometimes, it's the simplicity that fosters the most authentic connections. For those eager to embark on this culinary journey, a friendly tip: securing your thali in advance is advisable. The popularity of the establishment often leads to a shortage of their delectable offerings. This thoughtful gesture not only ensures a satisfying dining experience but also reflects the high demand for the irresistible flavors that keep patrons coming back for more. In essence, this unassuming eatery transforms into a haven where the heart and stomach find solace, leaving an indelible mark that beckons you to return time and again.
Had a sumptuous authentic Bengali lunch at Banalaxmi. Located at 10km distance from Sonajhuri Haat, the ancient Banyan tree welcomes in the village setup and the place is beautifully maintained with plants and mud houses. The unlimited veg meal consists of rice, ghee, alu vaja, daal, shukto, dhoka, chatni and mineral water. Along with this we had ordered mutton, chingri malaikari and bhetki paturi. Service was fast and taste was so wholesome. Their ghee deserves a special mention, you can buy from the souvenir shop where they sell pickles, sarees and a wide range of local products. They get rush in the weekend, need to prebook and place the order in the morning itself.
Banalaxmi is known for its ambience and food. However, you need to book in advance and the wait time is quite high. The quality of is good but was better in the past. Nestled amidst trees, this place is worth visiting. And once you are here, do check on the ghee. It's extremely good. The same ghee is available at Biswa Bangla but at a higher price.
Note : need to order food the day before. Authentic bengali style delicious and healthy food which will bring delight to your mind.
Very tasty and authentic food, the service, behaviour of the staff is praiseworthy. You will need to pre book your lunch by calling within 9:00 AM or the previous day . Also, do buy the ghee from the store. The ghee is made over here is excellent quality. Ornaments, garments and some delicious food items like ghee, squash, spices, pickles are also available here.
I think the service is really the worst thing about this place. First off, the gentleman answering the phone has zero mannerisms and no idea about what hospitality is. He sent me an elaborate menu on WhatsApp, then when i chose & booked the dishes from Bangalore itself and yet he couldn't manage it. He proceeds to not only cancel/whine about the chosen dishes by calling me over & over (order 3 plates of chingri or how can we cook 1 plate lol how's that my problem???? ODD). AND HE STILL GETS OUR ORDER WRONG. I couldnt believe it. They didn't put in the order for our shaak, made us wait at the table for a good 30 minutes. RIDICULOUS. He even asked me TWICE - kochu shaag muro diye? And i said NO, plain Shaag and guess what? Served With muro at our table after waiting for 30 mins for the most mediocre SPINACH dish. Food is fresh and that's the only saving grace, definitely wasn't anything spectacular. truly pathetic I'd say. I found no redeeming quality to this place. If you value anything apart from hype, then skip this. The Payesh was BURNT, the doi was bad. SERVICE - 0/5 food- 2.5/5
We went there with lot of expectations all the way from Bangalore on 07-01-2023. Severely let down. Food is below average. Service is Awful. Behaviour of the gentleman answering the calls while booking is so far removed from the reality that it is senseless. EXTREMELY OVER HYPED. Better food is available in Bolpur itself.
