The Jagannath and Ambika Temple, Balighat, Balasore, Odisha. It is located on the right bank of the river Budhabalanga. It is about 1.5 kms north of another archaeologically significant temple known as the Shyamasundar temple. It is a recently built flat roofed temple. The flat roofed mandapa is facing towards east. It houses one of the finest Ambika image so far noticed in Orissa and iconographically (artistic style of the sculpture) it is dated to the 11th century AD, the period of Somavamsi rule. It is a living temple, and the presiding deity is a beautiful Jaina Ambika image, firmly embedded to a masonary pillar and the chaturdha Murati - Lord Jagannath, Goddess Subhadra, Lord Balabhadra and Sudarshan. The image was brought from a village situated in the close neighbourhood of Seragarh. Interiors: Plain, except the image of Ambika, surmounted by Jaina Tirthankara Neminatha This is a modern flat roofed and open pillared mandapa. The image is attached to a pillar placed at the centre of the mandapa. Oil and vermilion are applied over the images regularly by the priest. This conceals the attributes of the images.
