Bahmani Tombs - Bidar District, Karnataka, India - Featured Reviews (1023)
This section of the city of Bidar was densely filled with tombs. The tour vehicles halted only at the three to four most important tombs out of the nearly 30 tombs. In addition, there are no vacationers besides me. In addition, the area resembles a verdant desert. It was a Saturday weekend, so I might assume that people are not interested in visiting the tombs of the Muslim monarchs of the Bahimi Dynasty and their families. However, we are able to visit the architectural design and location. We must visit at once.
Beautiful monuments that are decently maintained. While there is no tour guide available, the ASI has provided inscriptions for most of the tombs that provide insights into history of these structures. Most of the tombs are in ruins, but the best maintained ones are of Ahmad Shah and Ala-ud-din Shah which are awe inspiring with their scale and detail. Must visit for history buffs.
Highly recommended. Worth a visit and representative of our history. Very quiet. No tickets required. Browse at your pace. When I visited it was very hot. Please carry water.
Bahamani Tombs is a cluster of 12 tombs of Bahmani Sultans in the same compounds. Artistically built these tombs encompasses large mausoleums beautified with lofty domes, niches, and arches and one of the famous places to visit in Bidar. The tomb of Ahmad Shah-Al-Wali is the most sought-after one out of all the 12 tombs which consist of captivating walls engraved with verses from the Quran written gold. The paintings on the wall are beautiful and mausoleum with a swastika symbol is the main highlight.
Not much to see.. You can roam.. The place is good. But, they don't allow women to enter one of the tombs which was not good.
Bahmani Tombs - 11/12/2021 Located a few kilometres outside Bidar, in a place called Ashtoor, the tombs are dated in the century between 1436 - 1535. There are eight tombs of the rulers of the Bahmani Sultanate. The inscriptions on the tombs convey the names of the Sultan, the date on which he started his rule and the date of his demise. Persian poetry and Islamic verses from the Quran are also inscribed on each tomb. The main tombs are those of Ahmed Shah, Sultan Khalim-ullah, Shar Rukh Khan and that of Humayun Shah, which has partially collapsed. What amazed me was that there is no entrance fee, there was absolutely no one there, and in spite of the free entry, the maintenance is far far better than some of the more well-known monuments across the country, where one has to pay entry fees & exorbitant charges for using a camera, but whose maintenance is pitiful.
These tombs belong to the Bahamani Dynasty. These tombs architecture is superb. One of the tombs is half broken due to thunder striking.
They look nice.but only disappoint is they didn't allow us into the tomd see the architecture of those monuments.
