I recently had the most amazing experience at Backpacker's Den in Gangtok and I couldn't wait to share my thoughts about this hidden gem! From the moment I stepped through the doors, I knew I was in for a memorable adventure. It's located in a super serene place and the service is great plus staff are very hospitable . There is also the availability of swimming pool and deep enough to enjoy the swimming experience even more. For anyone expecting the location to be close to town, it's not!

I would NOT recommend this place. This place is very far from the main road and is very isolated. The google location is incorrect and you will not find a sharing cab to reach here. In fact a reserve cab will charge you high as there is no proper road to reach here. In the night time this place is really dark and would definitely not recommend any person to walk solo to this place. Also the dormitory is very small and is not ventilated at all. You will always feel the dampness in the rainy season. Neither the bathroom is clean nor the bedroom. Just to add, the food here is very costly as per the quality/quantity they provided. I was charged Rs 25 for a cup of black coffee (as the staff mentioned the milk is not available) that too was bad in taste. You can definitely skip this place and find some cheap hostels/hotels in the same area which are more accessible to the market to save your time and money.

Some of the posters were coming off the wall ;) Tip: Book online for cheaper prices This is a new place run by Sumairan (sorry if the spelling is wrong). It has amazing vibes, and friendly employees. We got really late coming here, but were received with a lot of warmth. Also got some fried rice even though it was really late: it was amazing that the cook went out of his way to cook something so late. Peaceful place, sadly I could just spend one day here, I intend to stay longer next time. It might take some effort to reach here (especially if you are drunk and it's beyond 1030 pm). But it's totally worth it. I hope to see this place run with the same spirit consistently. All the best guys.

Even 5 star hotels fail to provide the experience of Backpackers Den. It's the best option for solo travelers and a group of friends. You will love the community aspect as well and meet people from all walks of life. The food here is arguably one of the best in Gangtok, you'll find delicious food from all cuisines. If you're into dogs, you will be greeted by two cuties, Sunshine and Moonlight. Overall the value provided is unmatched for the price.

The perfect place to stay, great vibes. Very friendly,chill and welcoming host. Excellent food and servkce of staff. Also this place has a great view even though a small hike of no of steps is required. Kitchen can be used by guest at per hour cost basis also,free laundry is also available.

It was an experience that I cherish a lot. I had been to this hostel some time back in the month of February. The owner is really friendly and super cool. You are provided with all those services that you can expect from a backpacker's hostel. The staffs are very helpful and friendly. They are always ready to help you out if you need them. The chef that they have is a brilliant one and he makes really awesome and delicious continental food. You should try the pasta with mix sauce (red and white). I read a few reviews before going to this hostel and found some of them have lowly rated this place. I found that they didn't not realise that this is a backpacker's hostel and it's a 18+ hostel so one should be clear on what a backpacker's hostel is before they actually go to one.
