Historical place. It is a sign of architectural excellence from the 17th century. Tickets are not required. The road to this place is too narrow, which makes accessibility difficult. There was trash on the ground, indicating that cleanliness is not maintained properly

I visited this place on the way to kaas pathar (satara) with my friends. It's an ancient water well constructed in Shivkalin era. It is said to be 100 feet deep. It's in the 'Limb' village which is around 17km from satara. Must visit if you are in satara city. Some nearby villagers have arrangements like snacks, Lunch etc.

Situated in village Limb of Satara district this is something similar to a stepwall, however it is quite astonishing. It is built by Maharani Veerubai who was the wife of Shahu Maharaj. This place is situated in a remote location with very less crowd.

This is historic place but when we visited the place we found local villagers are swimming in this well. Cleanliness is not maintained. Local Guide is available but he is not Govt. approved. Villagers should put efforts to restore and preserve this place to attract more tourists. You can get pure turmeric from villagers as it is produced there.

During my recent visit, I had the opportunity to explore this ancient stepwell and was captivated by its historical significance and intricate craftsmanship. Bara Motanchi Vihir, also known as the Twelve-Pillared Stepwell, is a marvel of engineering and artistry. As I approached the site, I was immediately struck by its grandeur. The stepwell is an impressive structure, adorned with exquisite carvings and intricate designs that reflect the craftsmanship of the bygone era. Descending the stone steps into the depths of the stepwell, I was transported back in time. The cool and tranquil ambiance provided respite from the scorching sun, offering a serene environment to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The architecture of the well is awe-inspiring, with twelve elaborately carved pillars supporting the structure. The symmetry and precision of the design left me in awe of the skills and ingenuity of the craftsmen who created this masterpiece. One of the highlights of Bara Motanchi Vihir is the ingenious system of water conservation. The stepwell was built not only as a source of water but also as a gathering place for the community. The intricate network of chambers and niches that surround the well served as spaces for social interaction and religious ceremonies. It is fascinating to imagine the bustling life that once thrived within these walls. While exploring the stepwell, I couldn't help but admire the attention to detail in the carvings. The walls were adorned with beautiful sculptures depicting mythological stories and intricate geometric patterns. These artistic elements not only added to the visual appeal but also showcased the cultural and artistic heritage of the region. However, it's important to note that the site could benefit from better preservation efforts.
