Moonidih Underground Project is situated in the South-central part of Jharia Coalfield. This mine was designed in early 1960's by Polish Consultants under a Technical Collaboration for horizon mining system to produce coking coal from seams XVIII to XV bottom up to a depth of 540 m for a production capacity of 2.1 MTY. (Million tonnes per yr.). This mine has achieved the production level of 0.7MT in the year 2015-2016. This Project was opened in 1967 by two vertical shafts. The infrastructural facilities for production are fully developed including pit head washery. Total Production comes from Development District with the Deployment of two numbers of road Header Machines and longwall panel with use of DREDS.
