Aviary in Zoo - Park in Bhubaneswar - Cuttack, India

Though I never liked the idea of caging a bird at the first place, this place inside the Nandankanan Zoological Park is different from the bird enclosures inside the zoo. This is a walk through aviary, one can just walk through the provided path to look at different birds all at once kept in a cage in which they can atleast fly to some extent. Some passerine birds live in man made small houses on trees. The information boards in this Zoological park are the best as it displays information about the bird species along with its current conservation status. That what makes it the best.

Most beautiful place in Nandankanan zoo. You can clearly see many types of birds inside this cage. You can enter this cage also. Birds chirping about a feet away from you. You will feel close to the nature here. Artificial but feels natural. They have a water fountain, a small pond for ducks , small trees, beautiful water streams. Absolutely lovely place.

Nandan Kanan Zoological Garden is a perfect place for bird-watching, thanks to its extensive collection of local and exotic birds.

The very popular enclosure for birds in Nandankanan. One can find different types of birds here as there are so many species of them. Some birds are kept in cages and some are on the trees inside the cage. You can see both flying & flightless birds here. Just go & live with them!!!

Water should be regularly changed, it's some time smells too bad due to the fish and bird excreta. Lovely experience of pelican, heron, grey heron, black crowned night heron, stock, painted stork, white stork , spoon bill and some local fishing bird like cormorant, white heron etc. All llive together within the aviary.
