A nice place to visit to know more about the diversity that dwells there. You could commute to drop off place via scooter/car. Later you could commute to the globe via foot or board a bus But it would be better & wise to opt for commuting by foot as you could enjoy the beauty of the place. An added bonus would be, do carry your own water bottles. As drinking water availability would be only at the end of the globe & it is quite a length tread. Also ensure not to litter plastic hither & thither There are cafes & also a 100 year old banyan tree

Very well maintained and we walked around 2km to see the Globe, that too we can't go near that. We need to see from far. If we want to go inside we need to book online that will be free of cost. If we are going without booking it will be no use, only we should walk and we will be fully tired .

Auroville is a wonderful place at Pondicherry. Very good place for swimming in sea. Many beach resorts are available at auroville you can spend time there peacefully. Auroville has so much of trees and you will enjoy the nature of a very small town. Overall a stress relief area . The meditation globe at Auroville is a sight to behold. Architectural beauty if you can understand the nuances. They have beautiful landscapes lawn around and 12 gardens for the petals of the lotus flower depicted as architecture. It is to be seen and experienced in quiet. Currently some construction is in progress and they urge people to walk to the view point. It's a good 20+ minutes walk. About 1.5 kms. For the elderly and people who find it difficult to walk, you can use a shuttle bus. From the visitors centre collect a token pass, which people at the view point gate collect. This is to keep a tab that people don't stray away from the path . Several men and women are available along the path to guide the way . Most visitors however create a lot of cacophony there while taking selfies . For all such places , we must learn to follow a code of discipline for peace and cleanliness. Not throw wrappers wherever we go

Free bus available inside campus, still you have to walk 1kms to get the view. But overall neat and clean place, very beautiful... Peaceful... Take water for yourself..toilets are present their. No worries

Don't go directly if you are going to just visit the Matrimandir. It's worthless unless you book the inner side of it for meditation. Even though they allow us to view the structure from outside it's just as we look at a mountain from 1km. So don't waste your time... I'm sharing this based on my experience. Your mobile selfies will not come clear. Photos on digital zoom will also get blurred. If you have a premium mega zoom or a dslr you may get a pic in the main camera. They are always over crowded. I didn't get this detailed information when I googled. So sharing the complete information so that you can plan accordingly. 1. The site for online booking roughly works between 8am-12pm only 2. Car parking is Rs100. Don't get shocked 3. There is 1km full Trek inside from the car parking lot to the visiting gallery. Be prepared. 4. For return they have some vans though. 5. For visitors the doors open at 9am.... For booked mediation it's 8am. Main gate of Matrimandir viewing point opens at 9.30am. 6. If you are planning to randomly go to visit the site for only viewing it from outside, just avoid it... practically theres even better pics available online 7. Only visiting the Matrimandir from outside may take around 2 hrs. 8. Plz carry your own water bottle while traveling/trekking to the site from car parking 9. Except for meditation and soul searching it's not a visiting place as claimed and definitely not a place to be in your bucket list if you just want to cover visiting places of Pondicherry. There are some superb other alternatives available there. 10. Disclaimer - this review is only for the visiting of Matrimandir viewing point. I don't know what's there inside. So read it accordingly.

Place was simply superb and worth watching it. We enjoyed walk from entrance to globe and in between you can visit different scientific museums tied to nature.

Auroville Golden globe is one of the spots at Puducherry famous for it golden globe architecture and meditation focussed village. When you reach auroville one has to walk a long walk within the woods to reach the actual Auroville Matra mandir. The walk is long so don't carry baggage. In between the walk you would see many locations were activities are done which are paid. For senior citizens and small children bus facility is provided by them which is free of cost. A museum is there which provide you information about the Auroville Golden globe and purpose of formation of this village. When you reach the golden globe you would be mesmerized by its beauty. One has too book the meditation done within the globe in advance. Return bus facility is provided to all the tourist for free. One can plan half day to visit auroville. Many reasonable stays are also available here.
