The Killa Aul Palace established by Raja Ram Chandra Deb in 1590 AD at the bank of river Khrasrota a tributary of River Brahmani. The history of Killa Aul dates back to 16th century. The present day Aul Palace was established in the year 1590 A.D. and since then has been the Royal Residence of its succeeding Rulers consisting of 19 generations till the present day.The Royal family are the direct descendants of the last independent ruler of Kalinga Gajapati Mukunda Deva who ruled from the precincts of the famous Barabati Fort at Cuttack in 1567 AD . The elder son of the last independent Gajpati of Kalinga Raja Ram Chandra Deva established KILLA AUL in 1590 AD after a treaty with the Moghuls . The royal family has encountered a history of over 426 years which makes for an interesting conversation when one interacts with the host .
Visited Aul Raj Palace for a one day get away. Ambience is amazing. The suite was very nice except for the fact it didn't have any closet to hang clothes. Food included in the package was average. Palace has an old world charm but a lot needs to be done to make it a starred location. General experience was nice.
Last time it was better. Now it's just old ruins. No conservation at all. Still a place worth visit once in Every 5 years.
Beautiful and peaceful place Warm and welcoming team too
Amazing palace of Raja Dev. Vintage remembering of our old Culture
Beautiful palace with scenic Riverview, but little renovation required.
Much incredible and mesmerizing place of kendrapara district
Loved the experience. A beautiful blend of personal service, hospitality and an abundance of nature. A suggestion, Wifi would be a good bonus. A warning to anyone going anywhere close to nature - beware of insects and mosquitoes. In Aul, carry the easily available local Odomos cream and Mosquito repellant sprays. And enjoy a whole new world!
