Atithi Ashray - Guest house in Patna - Patna, India

The stay at the place was not a pleasant experience. The reason I m posting this review is to give a balance and honest feedback to the future guest. My guest did not even put any negative review at first but the fun part was that the owner called me and asked me very rudely that my guest had put a negative feedback on Google. Even if they did, you do not have the right to question them. Their experience was not pleasant, hence they expressed it openly. We live in a democratic country where we have the freedom of speech. Also, please Note, every review which is a 5 star is a review posted by the relatives of owner and not genuine customers to counter the actual reviews given by genuine customers Pros: location is prime, no doubt Room Rates are moderate Room sizes are okish in volume but washroom needed better cleaning Cons: They want 50% amount in advance. You are forced to take food from within the premises. However, they will charge food rates abruptly high. If we don't want their food service, then they will not allow food to be brought from outside ( Swiggy/ Zomato). I don't understand which hotel does not allow food to be brought from outside. After multiple arguments over such common and irrelevant issues, he agreed to allow us food from outside after an additional cleaning charge ~ close to 15% of each room rent.. however we were helpless because our guests were arriving in just few hours. After talks he allowed us food from outside after talking 5% of the total day rent. We had booked entire place yet he was creating issues. When our guests arrived , they were asked to do entry for each guest- that's okay. We also made entry of our family members who were supposed to come few hours later just to avoid more work for them. However someone mistakenly wrote name of all guests in the signature column. When the next guests arrived, he made them wait in the corridor, didn't even allow them to put their luggage down and forced them to first complete the entry and then go to your respective rooms. They have zero idea about the H of Hospitality. We had already shared the ID cards of all guests, their train was 8 hours late, they were already tired and they were supposed to stay for another 4 nights, yet he made them stand and do the entry before you checkin. All 7 rooms are booked by single person, so at least he should let them relax and then take the details later. Next when we were having food in the common space, he asked us to get into our respective rooms and have food there, that too in a very rude tone as if we were slaves. He wants Everything by the book and rules, but when it comes to payment he wants everything in cash to avoid tax. He doesn't respect privacy of his guests, his caretaker take a bed and sleep in the common room itself as if it's a dharamshala. The owner & his wife will come and sit in the common space and do their errands making it an awkward situation for the guest to navigate through the place. There was no drinking water facility there, no RO water. When asked he said we will have to buy water bottles at Rs 30 per litre ( Market price is Rs 13). Also, if we order tea, it will take them about an hour to deliver or even forget. It seems that owner has intentionally directed the caretakers to harass us since we didn't agree to his unfair terms and conditions. I asked for 2 rooms for early checkin, though he had all rooms vacant a day early , he didn't give us any room before 12 PM, even though we were ready to pay early check-in charges The name is Atithi Ashray but they do not know the meaning of "atithi devo bhv". We were helpless coz we did not have any other place to host our guest and he exploited this by throwing unwanted financial add ons. The stay was marred by constant disputes and a lack of respect for guests' comfort and privacy. From rigid policies on outside food to an unwelcoming check-in experience, the overall atmosphere was stressful. I regretfully cannot recommend this place to others.

Please refrain from booking this place. Very poor service. At the time of booking, they will talk nicely but on the day when you guest arrived , they will show their real faces. Hospitalily is poorest. Their behaviour is very harsh and rude.They don't allow you taking outside food and charge almost the double for food.We booked this place for our guests and we regret our decision.

Great Ambience and the services were really fast. The staff were polite and helpful. Highly recommended as they give access to all the necessary amenities.

Pre booking of room, hotel owner Mr Arun assured all types of facilitate at their end but he demanded more money for 2 hours before check in.. bad experience....... rude behaviour....... even Double rate of water bottle...... Never recommend staying here......

Very bad room service, rude behaviour with our guests. They asked us that they cannot allow food from outside and asked us to take food from them at double the rates of the food. Very argumentative. Don't go for it. Regret the stay as the payment was done in advance.

Worst experience. Service was pathetic. Bad food. Owner Mr Arun was rude and inconsiderate. Do not recommend at all!!!

What an amazing place to stay! I loved the hospitality, especially the healthy breakfast. The room was very pleasant, and the Guest House Staff was well-mannered and helpful. The place is quiet and safe, and it feels like home. I will surely be back to this place again.
