Nestled close to the heart of the city this hotel has comfortable rooms and decent service. The food is good. There's no great view but since it is close to the city centre it's very convenient. There's an underground parking with lift access. The rooms are reasonably priced. Didn't have too much food here as options outside are a plenty.

I went to this hotel, and as soon as I walked in, there was a bad smell in the reception area. That smell stuck around the whole time I was there. Checking in was quick, but there was confusion about the time I had to leave the room. Now, let's talk about my room experience: there were no towels in the bathroom, and they didn't provide basic things like a shower cap, dental kit, or hand soap. When I tried to use the AC, I couldn't find a remote. Instead, there was a fixed control on the wall, far from the bed, making it hard to adjust the temperature, especially at night. I set the AC to a cool 16 degrees Celsius with the fan on high, but even after two hours, the room didn't get cool. It was quite hot, and I had to stand right in front of the AC to feel any coolness. When I tried to call the front desk about these problems, the phone didn't work. I had to go down to the front desk to tell them about the broken phone, the AC not working well, and the missing towels. They said they would fix everything. After a while, someone brought me two long towels, but there were no short ones. Another person came to check the AC and said it was working fine, even though I had it on for two hours, set to 16 degrees Celsius, and it was still too warm. He promised to talk to the manager and call me back, but he never did. They did manage to fix the phone, though. At night, I kept sneezing, and I couldn't figure out why because the room didn't feel cold. When I turned on a small light, I saw that the air in the room was full of dust. To sum it up, my one-night stay at this hotel was really disappointing. I'd suggest avoiding it, especially if you're allergic to dust or want a good night's sleep. It was a pretty bad experience.

We went to a marriage in Madurai and stayed in The Astoria hotel located in a prominent and easily accessible area. Rooms are neat and clean. Staff are courteous, polite and honest. Satisfied stay.

We were a group of mostly senior citizens from Mumbai and Thane. Of particular importance was cleanliness and hospitable staff. I was very happy with the calm ambience and hospitality meted out.Of course food was also good.

We enjoyed the stay at this place. Should mention the best service at the restaurant. All the staff were courteous and helpful. Special mention Venkatash and Gopal at the restaurant and all the other staff. Sorry don't know the names. Will recommend this hotel to our friends and family.

Save yourself and your money by reading this. Definitely not worth the money you pay. The staff in the reception were not even ready to take the feedback. The hotel/room you see in the photos vs the actual is only 50%. The hotel is pretty old with rusty interiors. The washroom tiles look dirty and require a deep cleaning. There are no packaged water bottles provided and they promised WiFi, but didn't provide. The food was good, but the overall stay experience was just average. Look out for other hotels and try avoiding this stay

The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was spacious, and the amenities were all top-notch. The staff at the hotel were incredibly friendly and helpful. The food at the hotel was also excellent. And the restaurant offered a wide variety of delicious dishes for lunch and dinner. Overall, I had a wonderful stay at the Hotel Astoria. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a clean, comfortable, and friendly hotel in Madurai.
