Ashokan Rock Edict Jaugada - Archaeological site in Pandarakholli - Ganjam, India

Good place . You can see the cutting stones and upstairs It was inaugurated by Odisha CM. However I haven't seen much or I can say, I haven't seen anything which can describe the history of this place. So it will be better if Govt protects and tells us something about this place.

Ancient place, not much but whatever is available must be preserved. Amenities wise nothing is available for visiting public. No one from archeological department to help general public. Only few signage to give info. May be once one can visit to know of our rich heritage.

I recently visited this amazing place and was mesmerized at the extent to which this place has evolved as a tourist attraction. Reaching this place is very easy because the roads leading to this area is in very good shape. The space around has been cleaned and colored nicely with murals depicting various facets of our culture and tradition. The stairs leading to the stone carvings have been also given a new look and feel. I loved the ambience of the area. If you are a true lover of cultural heritage you must see it. And it provides ample opportunity for hiking and trekking too for adventure seekers. Go there once you will love the place. If you are going there make sure you go there in groups because sometimes the place may be completely secluded and you might not want to stay there for long alone.

One of the two Major Rock Edict of Mauryan King Ashoka the Great discovered in the State of Orissa. Moreover ASI has found some Neolithic Artifacts also. In mythological context it is believed to be the 'Jatugriha' where Duryadhan wanted to kill the Pandavas( Jau-Lac n Garh-Palace) in Mahabharata. Very lonely place outside a small village Pandia, difficult to find as there is no Signboard. Need some more attention from tourism Dept for this great piece of Ancient Indian History.

Please have a good hand support for this Historical place. Take it to the attention for Archeological Survey of India for it's preserveration.

This place has its own historical value. Some developments going on. Within some year this place going to be very popular.

Jaugada is a ruined fortress in the Ganjam district in Odisha, India. Jaugada lies 35 km north-west of Berhampur and 160 km south-west of Bhubaneshwar. Once a provincial Mauryan fortified capital of the newly conquered province of Kalinga, Jaugada is famed by its version of the monumental stone-cut edictsin Prakrit of the Mauryan emperor Ashoka.
