Ariyankavu Pooram, also known as the Pooram of the Ninety-Six Lands, is held annually on the 21st of May at the Kavalappara Ariyankavu Bhagavathi Temple near Shoranur in Ottapalam Taluk, Palakkad District. From Kavalappara, Cherukattupulam, Koonathara North Room, Koonathara South Room, Trangali, Mannanur, Chuduvalathur, Shoranur, Nedungottoor, Panayoor and Kallekkad, the people of the plateau take part in the festival with hooves. After their horse race, the Mundaya Kodichi, a female horse from Karakkad, is escorted to the temple grounds, accompanied by thalappoli, melam and komaras. After playing in the courtyard of the Mundaya Kodichi temple, Bhagavan is greeted by the puppets, thira, goats and oxen of the Harijans of the plateau. The day then ends with a small shot. It is noteworthy that the Elephant Rising is not held here as it used to be. At night, various cultural events are held in the temple courtyard and Sri Rama Pattabhishekam Tholppavakoothu is performed in the Koothumadam.

Temple is divine everything is so positive. The poojari is so rude and he disrespects everyone by scolding them if you stand there and while taking the prasadham hi literally screams at women's and everyone giving us a negative feelings it's a devi temple but he doesn't know to respect women such a bad vibe. Literally a disgrace to that holy place. Devi temple should be safe for women but this old man gives such an angry vibe and negative feelings. The god temple other staffs all are amazing God bless especially the velichapad such a nice person.thankyou

Though a small temple of valluvanad , Aryankavu Bagavathi temple have long history connected with Kavalappara swaroopam and mooppil Nair .The biggest Pooram festival in Malabar used to take place at the Aryankavu temple in Kavalappara Shoranur, which was once owned by the Mooppil Nair family. Aaryankavu Bagavathi is the deity of ninety-six villages of valluvanad . The Pooram is held with the participation of 96 villages which was under the Kavalappara Swaroopam. Aryankavu Pooram , which is still held in the Malayalam month of Meenam 1 to 21, hasn't drained the festival of its charm though number of participating Desams were reduced. Tholpavakoothu/shadow puppetry is performed on all these days of pooram during night . Tholpavakoothu, a 2,000-year-old puppet art form. Aryankavu pooram is a rare event in which elephants are not used unlike most other temple festivals The biggest attraction of this festival is 'Kuthiravela', a colourful procession carrying decorated motifs of horse. On the last day of pooram one female kuthira Mundayakudichi come as procession among others she is the favourite one of Bhagavathi.
